Hard to say if I like battlescenarios, I don't know the game yet!

But in HoI2 I never touched any, always playing the '36 grand campaign. From that point of view: No, I probably don't want battlecenarios for HoI3 as well.

Although this is a good idea by myth, and perhaps something that could also interest me:

It's an intriguing idea, though it would depend on how it's done I think, or you could do them multiple ways. One idea I just had was, instead of a battlescenario per se, what about a career following scenario? IE, you could have a Rommel scenario starting in 1940 with one division in France, goes through Rommel's fighting in North Africa and ends in 1944 with Normandy. The entire war is waged around the player, but the player's remit is limited to just what that one leader commanded historically. Or at least, get it as close to history as possible given the AI's and player's own actions. I think something along these lines could be fairly interesting and innovative if done properly and could lead to some great AARs.

I was thinking about the discussion on DLC. I'm not big into sprites or battle scenarios, so I can't imagine purchasing them. Obviously I would purchase expansion packs or new game features. So...

What about this idea for a DLC: a modification to the game to allow a player to control 2+ nations at the same time. Example:a person could play the 1936 campaign with both Japan and Germany. It would definately take some software to make it work (maybe just a button that flips the player to/from each nation). I think I would pay extra for that.

Just an idea.

I think it's a brilliant idea. The amount of provinces now in HoI 3 is huge (compared to the older one) and it can allow the player to concentrate on one single front or theatre . The AI can handle objectives, maybe it could also set them. Thus the player would be entirely devoted to his own army or Theatre, without being "bothered" by the economy, the diplomacy and the others theatres.
To me it should include some new features, like chosing our own Chief of Staff, asking the military Command for Generals or Colonels that we like (like Rommel asked for regiment commander Colonel Von Luck to follow him in his various missions), asking for more troops and equipment, the possibility to disobey orders, etc...

I only really tried out the scenarios in HoI2 when I got bored of playing a GC game. So I'd potentially buy a few scenarios for when I am bored or haven't got the time/inclination to play the GC.

Actually, adding in support in what units you ARE allowed to command, together with the auto-control of the rest would be pretty awesome.

Ah, now that you've said this I would change my vote! That would be cool.

If by Battlescenarios you mean HoI2, then I expect the results will continue to be poor. But if this is what you mean, I'd bet more people would be interested. :)

I'd love to buy battlescenarios. Hell get creative, make non-historical stuff, make up totally bizarre scenarios (like Crimson Skies America with 4 different countries) just whatever and I'll buy it. After 6-10 Grand Campaigns we're going to be craving for something unique/different!

Of course modders can make their own battlescenarios and give out for free
Well, at least that means you´re ready to make some brilliant battlescenarios worth paying for, because you know those crazy modders will be making some really awesome ones for free in a matter of months.

Hmm.. time to get back to work on the Cold War scenario I have in mind..

1946 - 1991

Anyone interested? :D

Id rather see a 1945-1995 one.:D
Concerning the scenarios...Well,that depends on my parents, and they probably wouldn't let me buy it...If I could get a few scenarios for that prize,Id buy it,but wouldn't give a dollar for each one.

No battlescenarios for me. But I'd be very interested in (as in, willing to pay for) some alternative campaigns (kinda lika armageddon but made with SP in mind).

The poll actually gives you limited choice because I like the battle scenarios but I still wouldn't pay for it.

I couldn´t vote either.:( I definitely would love to play some battlescenarios, but as I always took them as only a short relax-play besides the major campaigns, then I would not pay for them - especially if they can be modded in...

sell them as DLC for like 1-2$ each
Either your comparison is way off, or EA has radically changed it's pricing policy since last I checked ;)

EDIT: And yeah, I'd buy a scenario. Great for fast, small MP games, and very handy for games against inexperienced players that need to be brought up to speed.

That was similar to my original idea for HoI2 battlescenarios. The code supported linked battlescenarios where it could branch off depending on results, and you could "bring units" with you and so on. We just decided to do simpler ones for hoi2.

Actually, adding in support in what units you ARE allowed to command, together with the auto-control of the rest would be pretty awesome.

would be really cool and i would consider getting em but wouldnt they be SP?

As i will most likely play MP with my roomie most of the time the possibility to Coop through such a branching scenario would be in my opinion brilliant. That way it would be possible to take a short MP game with few people i would love it.

So long as the actual support for battlescenarios come in a free patch (or in a proper expansion) I say go ahead. Not that I'd be likely to buy more than one or two just to try it out... For me HOI looses a lot of appeal when you can only control units.
