Gah, we were doing so well for a while. It's Lumberking's turn, then.

The attrition (drop out) level on this AAR is amazing! I actually didn't think my turn would come this fast. Anyways, where's the save?

The Die of Fate (LumberKing Edition)

It is often said though fate can bring great fortune to few, to the rest she brings harshness thus is often described that fate is blind, cruel, flaky, insane, and unstable. This is of no exception, with the birth of a new god, the die of fate has once again been cast...

Ahma II Vyatich the Lewd, High Chief of Vladimir
2015-01-0100003.jpg

A Finnish March Lord under the vassalage of the King of Rus. Ahma II is an old man with more children than he could remember, who inherited his title from his father long ago. Though more suited to be a Romuvan Priest, he seeks to become the Marshal for his king. Of course, it is also very much possible to go against his liege and forge a realm of his own should he not decide to kick the bucket anytime soon...

Daruish Karen, Satrap of Bakkhar
2015-01-0100005.jpg

Descendent of the legendary Persian Karen dynasty, Daruish inherited an independent Satrapy from his late father, which straddles in between Greater Persia and the Indian Subcontinent. Though overshadowed by the senior branch of their dynasty, Daruish still has the potential to establish a powerful cadet* branch in India so long as his health do not get the better of him.

*By modding the savegame file, it is possible to establish a separate Cadet Branch Dynasty for this fellow. With any modding, there are risks, but it is minimal should people wish this branch not become overshadowed by their senior branch.

Pierre Gellones the Just, Duke of Vestlandet
2015-01-0100006.jpg

A French Aristocrat in the Norwegian Kingdom of Norge (Norway), Pierre has the opportunity (or perhaps a duty) to 'civilise' these descendants of the brutal Vikings unless he wishes to cast aside his prude ways and embrace the Viking culture.

Rolls that were not of great note (Counts)

Dietpold von Thuringen the Spide, Count of Anhalt
2015-01-0100001.jpg

Sub-vassal of the great successor to the Roman Empire, Magna Francia, this French noble of German descent has a long way to go if he wishes to make himself of great note in an already over-achieving realm.

Thimma Kalyani Chalukya, Thakur of Lattalura
2015-01-0100002sbvBh.jpg

The cadet member of his family, Thimma has inherited the lesser of his father's realm becoming a vassal to his own brother after their father's death. Will Thimma be able to reclaim his birth-right or will he lose everything to his good-for-nothing brother?

Farroukh Yeldarid, Marzoban of Jask
2015-01-0100004mQB7M.jpg

A sub-vassal of one of the Persian Shahdoms, Farroukh is a young man with a great potential future ahead if the political situation was not so chaotic in the region he is in.

With the die already cast for the entertainment of the gods, it is now up to the heavens (the Readers ie You) to decide on which candidate will receive the great blessing (or curse) called the 'Divine Influence'.

I checked up on the save file, the Teutonic Order could potentially form Sweden if they changed their primary title to the other duchy they hold.

The French Viking - Chapter I

Duke Pierre the Just
15th of August, 1320th Year of our Lord

What has the world come to...

That was the only thing I could think of as I inspected the troops of the Royal Army currently encamped in Leinster. The fact that I was leading the king's men to put down an uprising in Ireland, albeit badly, was the least strangest thing that was going on with the world.

2015-01-0300001.jpg

The fact that I, a Frenchman with Norwegian blood whose grandfather was once a Norwegian King of Norge was also rather normal.

2015-01-0300002.jpg

Nor was the fact that the most notable members of my family including my own son are mostly Welshman, even though House Gellones is of Frankish origin in Norway.

2015-01-0300003.jpg

Even the matters of the Kingdom was quite trivial compared to what was going on, though despite having a sense of normalcy by having a Norwegian King as the King of Norge (Norway), his successor was a Danish King of Jylland.

2015-01-0300004.jpg
2015-01-0300005.jpg

No, nothing could possibly compare to the state of the world it was currently in. Of course, delving into such nonsensical matters such as how Scotland and parts of Ireland became Spanish, how France became synonymous with the Roman Empire, how a dead religion became a dominant force in Greater Persia, or anything that has happened thus far would drive anyone mad.

From a glimpse, it would seem the entire world has gone mad due to a divine prank gone too far. Of course the rise and fall of Empires is nothing new, but having it occur every generation cannot be called a norm. Was this all the work of God? If so, then who's God? By results, one could say that it was the Christian God who allowed the Holy Catholic Church to become triumphant and suppress the Heterdoxical Orthodoxy, but then why are the Miaphysites still around? Though the praise of Allah has decreased with the fall of Islam, why is it that instead of the cross standing triumphant, the old religion of our old nemesis, the Sassanid Empire return? One could simply cop out and say, “God works in mysterious ways”, but I say there must be actual reasons. Considering how my own family became what it is due to a certain Duke of Normandy, I ponder that there must be something sinister that is at work here. This so-called “Divine Influence” that has crept up now and again which my ancestor was apparently afflicted with, perhaps... Just perhaps, it is a secret society which aims to destabilise the world for their own benefit...

A new free Irish count is on the rise, with a nice free army. He can't do anything against Hispania or MF, but there's a new player in this region. As for the Gellones... If Norway wasn't elective, Pierre would now be the king himself and had most probably followed in his grandfather's footsteps and converted to Norwegian. As for his heir - clearly the Gellones want longbows. That they vote for Jylland is the new Norwegian way to expand, if you see their pitiful 'army' in Leinster.

Seeing that Pierre has more then twice Kolbein's army, I guess that the Gellones will hold the Norwegian crown once again. Then, do what you can to fulfill the duties of our society, but please don't touch the Norse count in Vestisland. It would be a great challenge for any future player, or at least a sign for continuity in this world besides MF.
