It was made in jest, but that was exactly what "40k-Fanboy-Owls" inferred in the context of that spat. Again, this was a case of spillover, which was why I called it out.. I don't like to see spats pollute unrelated discussions because then it might turn toxic.Perhaps, but that required @TheBeautifulVoid to have been suggesting that WH40K fans are actually xenophobic monsters, which isn't something I even considered since that's such a ludicrously stupid thing to say.
I'm sure this was just an isolated instance. You should really try to break that habit then.
Aww, don't worry, I certainly don't take it personally. Besides, I tend to agree with most of your posts on this forum anyway and find many of them to be helpful. Vehement differences of opinion on one topic won't shade my view on everything else you say.At the risk of reopening old wounds: I have been known to say things which could be interpreted as that.
There is an alternative of everyone in chains and being lashed all the day. Enslaved aliens. From the streams and dev diaries, it seems like having multiple races will be very useful for unlocking new planet types and for minmaxing this and that. That's all well and good if you want to play some united federation of planets type "empire" where everyone holds hands and sings kumbaya all day.
He's using it to describe their AI personality, man. They're not that far off from the Imperium.Nice, a gratuitous potshot.
Enslaved aliens are still aliens. There is an alternative of everyone in chains and being lashed all the day. Enslaved aliens.
Yes, this is also a problem to me.You will end up with other aliens either way as long as you don't purge every planet you conquer.
Yeah well, how would they change that? Just wiping out the populations of whole planets shouldn't be without consequences.Yes, this is also a problem to me.
We must guard ourselves against the alien elements that would disrupt our society, the influences that would debase our genetic and cultural heritage. The Other is to be held at arm's length, and that arm is to hold a sword.
But if you're seriously committed to it, with the right tech you should be able to brutally genocide all the aliens, then genetically engineer sub-populations of your own species to live natively on their worlds. Probably not efficient, and you'll absolutely need the fanatic xenophobe to make sure your pops don't give a shit about aliens, but should be doable
It would be interesting to see a game that actually took the controversial stance that liberalism and sentient rights do produce a more productive society. "Ahaha, the Galactic Space Reich has built its mighty panzerships OH SHIT WHAT IS THAT BOMB THE FEDERATION DEPLOYED ON MY CAPITAL"
this is what happens when we are hungry for a game to come out and its still a month out. it starts with blackhole arguments and then devolves into which game mechanic government type is best.
Paradox, for safety's sake, release the game or at least let us pre-order. #FeedTheBeast
Kicking them out? If their own governments don't want them, that's not my problem, but they can't stay on my planets.Yeah well, how would they change that? Just wiping out the populations of whole planets shouldn't be without consequences.
What a coincidence, this is exactly what I want to be.Your mind is clearly under the corrupting influence of the Xenos.
If both the genetic modification techs and robot techs are tied to ethics, Xenophobic Spiritualists might actually be screwed.
You weren't here for the argument about whether the Stellaris background should be black, purple, pink clouds, or Milky Way sparkly back when we didn't have a release date yet?

Well, we all know that 'Sweden Yes' meme, so it make sense to be tolerant in their game, wait for something else if you wish to be xenophobic, or just channel your inner Tankred and endure.

Paradox is the prime purveyor of thinly veiled genocide simulators on the planet.
MicroProse did it in 1993, don't forget, you either glassed/virus bombed planets to hell or dropped enough people to kill everyone on the planet.Joined: Dec 4, 2015
