I'm looking around at what country to play first when the immersion pack comes out and I've stumbled a couple of post calling Dithmarschen OverPowered. Is that just a meme or is there something to it?

They're still an OPM in the HRE but it definitely has some aces up its sleeve. It starts with +20% morale of armies from its traditions and government form, as well as -10% shock damage received, and then +10% infantry combat ability in its first idea. That's a LOT of military oomph frontloaded for this tiny nation. Rest of the ideas are pretty good too. You start with one crappy province but as you expand in the Lübeck node and take its centres of trade you can get pretty wealthy. Through your missions you get permanent +20% goods produced (you can also take plutocratic ideas for another 10%, another 10% from NIs, another 10% if you take German ideas...), +5% administrative efficiency and permanent claims on the russian region. You can also permanently keep the "peasant revolt" CB valid on any neighbours that aren't peasant republics for only 75% AE, kinda like deus vult. It was my nation of choice to form Germany with.

Ah, ok. Seems fun, but it is more a meme than really OverPowered. Maybe I'll try it when the new sprites come out after Denmark.
I love playing this tag. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll tag switch into a bunch of strong and permanent bonuses. They have a really fun mission setup with a lot of rewards. It’s a slow start, but if you are patient, you can pounce on weakened neighbors. My favorite combo is Dithmarschen==>Hanover==>Sardinia-Piedmont==>Prussia==>Germany. I don’t think the upcoming patch changes anything for them. It might be a harder start with the changes to their neighbors, however.

Dithmarschen does have a small but powerful mission tree which gives a few extremely strong permanent ideas like +20% goods produced and +5% admin efficiency. It also has the ability to form other German regional tags, potentially scooping up even more mission rewards if it forms something like Prussia. In addition, Dithmarschen's national ideas are above average.

Also peasant together strong. It's almost harvesting season. Nobleman, swerve. Etc.

I don't think there are any changes, but there are new Sprites, which I find quite important too after so many hours of EUIV.
