In my current castille - spain game i have noticed, that some elements of distant over seas has changed besides the fact that it let's Local authonomy get stuck at 75 %.

I have conquered the eastern parts of morroco throught release and vassalizing. Now, the coastal and a few inland provinces of this area, for example Ceuta, Tangiers, Melilla, Meknes, don't have the distand over seas 75% LA border. They get 0.1 point off every month now. They are currently at around 20 to 40% LA.

But, not all provinces behave this way. At the river flowing between Meknes and Tafilalt (gold province) there seems to be another border or ocean.

The provinces south of Meknes up to the atlantic coastline in Ifni have a distant over seas entry in their LA window and are stuck at 75% now.

How is it, that this penalty works in the middle of a continent? I can get 0 LA as spain in Meknes, but have to be stuck at 75 in Tafilalt? Even if they are on the same continent, share a border, both are cores and none is a costal province?

Another question is, why do i get full effect from Madeira and the Canarias but not from Ifni?

And is there a way around that for spain. capital to Ceuta maybe?

I think they use a distance calculation (akin to trade/colonist range) as well as land connection to determine "distant" overseas. Tangiers/Ceuta aren't "distant" because they're so close to home. The canarias are part of the european continent. I expect if you move your capital to Ceuta/Tangiers you could clean up on African autonomy as land connection to capital trumps all distance considerations, but I'd think the game would say you can't move your capital "overseas" to the african coast until you're at 1 province.

Any provinces on the same continent as the capital are not distant overseas. Any with a continuous land connection are not either. Of the rest, those that are very close to the capital are not. The last is what you have. The range is so short that most of Morocco will be distant overseas even with capital in Gibraltar. Moving your capital to Africa OTOH would make much of Iberia overseas, so not to be recommended.

IMO best is to create a vassal with the distant provinces.

Use your Napoli territory to launch an offensive on the Ottomans. Conquer some Anatolian land, and then if you put your capital there you can conquer into Africa from there and have it all not distant.

does anatolia region count towards beeing connected to ibera and africa? so having a land connection towards anatolia would work either?

In my ottoman game i wondered the same. Why does constantiopel/istambul count as beeing on two continents? are there more provinces like that?

Doesn't need to be connected to Iberia, as the game treats them both as Europe so neither is overseas to the other. From there anything connected by land in Asia and Africa will also count as same-continent.

Constantinople only counts as Europe. You can see this on the region map. As far as I know no provinces count as two continents (if there were, that would be where all the capitals go). Your Ottoman provinces were not overseas as they were connected by land (including straits) to your capital.
