Hi everyone. Maybe this is not the best place to share my requests and thoughts about this matter, but i guess this is not a big deal. So i would like to see roads with dissymmetrical lanes, example two lane-one lane roads, roads with only one sided bus lane and so on. We could easily decide the placing with the direction of the spline. This method is working with one way roads already. What are your thoughts on it?

P.S. This should go to Cities in Motion 2: Suggestion Box!, sorry about it

+1! Would love to be able to build/rebuild roads asymmetrically. In my city most of the bus lanes are built heading into the city centre only, leaving outbound buses to run on the regular traffic lane. Asymmetrical roads would also allow for building parking lanes only on one side of a bi-directional road, or have four lanes in one direction but only two in the other (or various other contrivances to frustrate drivers). :D

Exactly. This could provide us much more options. We could decide which direction needs more traffic capacity and reinforce only that, instead of giving more lanes for both direction. I would like to mention one more thing. Bus lanes at the middle part of the roads. This could be usefull at crossroads, giving the buses a separate lane for turning.

A useful, yet imperfect way to go around this problem I use is to build the wider roads and avenues using one-way roads close to each other. This however works only if you plan your city in editor, because usually there is no space in the game and the crossroads look somehow awkward...

On top of that, I'd love to have a median option on existing roads that would be used for dedicated turning lanes at either controlled or uncontrolled intersections. I've found myself having to play with the number of lanes and the angle of the intersection in order to get a dedicated left or right turn, which is incredibly useful at busy intersections, without requiring the road to be 2x larger just for a temporary turn lane. Of course that suggestion quickly gets into red light timing issues, and how lights behave to traffic (a dedicated turn lane, with yielding turns and protected turns, allows for a better "green wave" in a downtown section, and would allow the two opposite straights to flow through simultaneously (which is where most congestion is coming from in my games)....but alas, that starts to leave the scope of this game. :(

All you'd have to do is add a "Add Median" check box on the selection box.
