yes it affects, in a multiplayer game, he was U.S.A, i was germany. The only way we could ally was; he changed his ministers constantly, so rising dissent... I had initially %5 chance or so, it became %60 or so when his dissent hit 100%. This was HOI2 1.3b , but i'm pretty sure it's correct for DD too. Altho, i'm not really sure about the percentages.

All most definetly. A very high dissent level is needed so attempt as many coups/fund partisans as possible. Another way to cause an increase is to nuke the country- Dissent will raise until they retaliate.

But a nuclear hellhole doesn't make a very good ally. ;)

Unless you, say, nuked an empty Siberian province 10 times then couped them...

Nuke them. Nuke anyone who doesnt agree with you. If a nation doesn't want to be a friend they are the enemy; this is a just cause for war.

OT, but that one remenbered me why I decided to leave my own country 5 years ago :

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1938184010517452746

I do not have nothing against true believers, thought I grew up in a muslim country, but I positively hate people screaming senseless words in the street that themself they do not understand (I bet maybe 1% of the people there speak fluently arab, but algerian, tunisian, marocan, egyptian , turkish ...).

On the other hand, there is something vicious and rotten in that video, Paris look like beyrout, bagdad, teheran or Cairo. But that is not true. Maybe 10 000 persons there, for a grand total of maybe 10 millions (Paris + neiborought).

So yes, both things : the human stupidity used for hidden agenda by people who do not care about others, and the manipulation of the true feelings of basic citisens by other people for some other hidden agenda, have made me leave my country. I wish those who were/are/will be in charge to be a bit more cautious, a bit more caring, think less to their own sellfish race to some vain power and thin more on how to improve the daily life of the basic people.

Sorry it was OT, just I got mixed feelings by viewing that video, and ... well when you are an expat, it's not easy to find a way to share some feelings. I apologise for the OT or if hurted some people feelings by my saying.

regards

Before this thread goes completely OT and Tracid closes it, can someone answer how much dissent a country gets when it is nuked?

And, doesn't a country get a lot of dissent when it is couped?

I nuked germany and then reloaded as them. Their dissent was 22.25% but it was dwindling (maybe due to domestic policies).

Ok, I read in the manual that it depends upon IC and VP of the province.. but thank you anyway
