Discussion: The real power of Sweden?

As we've all seen through the information there will be no form of asimilation of provinces, and when anexed provinces without cores and or correct culture won't add any manpower and will only add money. And all major powers EXCEPT Sweden (and maybe Prussia) have their whole country combined. Considering that Denmar-Norway are possible asimilation targets due to them being a secondary norse culture Sweden has the power to asimilate the one of the strongest secondary powers in the game. When this is attained, what is the power status of Sweden? The manpower boost of Denmark-Norway must be decent, in the livestream Denmark could match Swedens army nearly to a dot.

Any thoughts?

What I have to wonder is if there's a formable Scandinavia.... and if Denmark-Norway forming Scandinavia would allow them to usurp Sweden's Great Power slot.

Regardless, I think that a union of the Nordic nations would be a relatively powerful country. At least a step above the Ottomans.

It's already been stated that no formable nations will be in the game.

Sweden is extremely weak compared to the other gp. Only OE and Spain can compare, and they have a better position.

I would love to see someone win a dominance victory as sweden... Without reloads or cheats.

But they're also relatively isolated and have the option to easily get some land from Denmark-Norway.

Does Russia have any goals in Sweden? I feel as if any are in Sweden the game will have a tendency of Russia butchering Sweden and taking half the country.

several. One in finland and two more in western sweden.

A quick guess would say that Sweden would have to defeat Prussia, Russia and GB in order to win, at least. Maybe even some provinces which starts as French? I would seriously applaud whoever manages to win as Sweden

That would complicate Sweden's survival, but now that I think about it Russia would be busy dealing with the Prussians, Austrians and Ottomans and a campaign into Sweden would probably need to be delayed until all of the more pressing threats have been resolved.

id imagine a russian friend, while annexing denmark & norway.
After that, sweden is in trouble. Perhaps best to look if either russia or prussia are falling apart, and taking on a weak power.

Unlikely unless managing to get france or austria to help out.
Then press that advantage to the ultimate destruction of said power

When I play Sweden I will attempt to keep Russia very friendly and pray for a relatively successful French invasion of Russia. That will be the time to throw the dice and go for glory.

I thought the guy that's in the live streams had talked about forming Germany as Prussia? Maybe he was just talking about annexing the German Empire's territory.

Sorry to say, but I've seen several sources claim this, both in interviews and by moderators on forum posts. They said that they'd rather focus on the war aspects of the game and not the revolutions that preceeded the Napoleonic wars, and thus no option to form countries.

Unfortunate, but it's not a major drawback given the premise of the game. I'm sure there'll be a mod for it by the end of next week.
