Con: The richness can seem like complexity, and even for very experienced players there is no "quick" game of Victoria. Make sure you buy your significant other something nice before you install it.
Hehe, I think I'll take that last one to heart! :D

Other than that; from the review, it seems Paradox has a winner here. Can't wait to play it myself!

Ohh: Just spotted this:

(I'll jump ahead and tell you EU2 fans right away: Yes, Paradox has said they plan to produce a 'translator' app that will take the end-state from their EU2 savegames and use it to translate into a 'fantasy' starting-game for Victoria. It's not there yet, but they've said they'll do it, and nobody supports their games better than Paradox. If it's possible, I believe they'll write it.)

!!!!:D :D :D

The best from the review

Truth in Journalism notice: in the interest of ever getting this bloody review finished, I confess that I'm writing this review on a laptop several rooms removed from my home gaming system. I simply can't trust myself to write the review on the same machine. I'll remember a question, or need a screenshot and jump into the game 'for just a second'. Three hours later, my spare time is gone and this review remains unwritten. Again.

The worst part

The manual is anemic. While I imagine that a full and deep examination of all the functions and aspects of the game would fill a good-sized textbook, and while (I imagine) that most of the players will be familiar with either EU or HoI already, this doesn't obviate the need for something more useful than this.

Yeah, that has me pretty psyched. I know a lot of people said in the CK forums that they never play through a full GC anyway so there isn't a point to it, but for those of us who do it will be good fun. 500 years for one grand campaign as some 'minor' like Albania. From sea to shining sea. :D

I agree, Gaute, that one alone shows that this will be a "keeper" :D

Too bad about the manual, tho', since Paradox did it themselves this time. Luckily, we'll have these forums in the times to come, so there shouldn't be a problem :)

Note, the documentation score IS higher than the review for EU2 which gave the documentation a score of 5 instead of the score of 6 given for Victoria.

Jeez, a translator for EU2 and for HOI, can you think of the requirments for such a game :)

I believe I meet the requirements. I am single. I am a student with lots of time. I´m a loner. I have a micro wave oven.

Besides...would it not be easier to make a translator for HOI than for EU2? For me it also makes more sense....after all WW2 is the final showdown between the superpowers!

*drool* I didn't think it was possible but now I want the game even more. Éither Paradox bribed the reviewer or the game is better than anyone could hope for.

The negative remarks are imo not that serious. The only fright I got is this sentence... "But even with extensive keyboard shortcuts, initiating a general upgrade of a small region's raw material gathering operations can take thirty or forty (!) clicks."

I just wrote an E-mail to Aftonbladet and two lifestyle magazines depicting Paradox, the games and the forums. I included a link to this great review. I urged them to make not only a review of the game but also an article about Paradox.

And of course I hinted to Aftonbladet that they are featured in an event in Victoria as a milestone in Swedish history. ;)

I hope that they haven´t taken that event out of the gold version though. *lol*

Sounds lika a nightmare, and i thought the convoy system in HOI was tedious...:(

*Lol That thing about forty clicks made me decide not to play the US in my first game...ínstead I´m going with Sardinia...I think.
Oh...the decisions!
