The idea is the following:

An event simulates the discovery of Sierra Leone by Portugal. Just telling the player he has discovered Sierra Leone is not enough: all the sea zones from Portugal to Sierra Leone should be revealed to the player as part of the trip.

1. How is it possible to reveal (discover) a province by way of an event ?

2. Will the sequence addcore-removecore perform the task ?

you could create an explorer/conquistador in the province that needs to be discovered and give him a one-day life.
Now we should find a way to remove the troops/ships he comes with

How can I select a given explorer when the command is:
command = { type=explorer which=n }​
where n refers to a province.

You maybe mean creating a leader for one day (or removing it immediately).

:cool: I thing it will be rather tricky to solve.

use "wakeleader" and have the explorers coded into the leaderfiles with designated provinces, would that work?

Unfortunately, that doesn't work. You can only spawn a leader in a province you own. So, if you out a leader in province 25000 but don't own it, he will simply appear in a province you do own.

It was once suggested that you create a galley in the sea zone. This could then be removed by a subsequent event. No idea if it really works though. I don't think it's possible for land provinces.

What happens when an event is bound to a province (province=x), the province is not owned by a country and the event fires ? Are the commands in action applied to the province (when they can logically do)?

The situation I envision is the following:

Code:
...
trigger = {
  not = { discovered = x }
}
province = x
...
action_a = {
...
  command = { type=secedeprovince which=x data=aaa }
...
}

Will the province x be "discovered" by the country aaa ?

I'd say the event won't fire since no country owns it (or the province).

But try it - only way to be sure.

The other solution (used/suggested elsewhere) would be to create an out-of the way nation hidden away (maybe on Fernando Po) that consists of saay a TP - the nation is then given knowledege only of the seazones in question. The Portugal can inherit the nation (and it's knowledge).
