I am disappointed so far to see the map look so much like the old HOI map - I was expecting the graphics to be better - more detailed scenery.

Also, I don't get the "instant battle" feature. I don't see a place to view the battle in progress like HOI 1 - it seems like all of the sudden I've either won or lost and can't view the battle progress.

As everything new you just have to get used to it...wait until you have played Germany in the GC then you might have changed opinion.
Dont get the idea that I got the game because I dont...not even the demo, demos arent really me...

correct, and I think the new provinces are very nice in some areas (russian front and north africa are the biggest improvements imho. Also nationalist china looks a lot better).

The graphics are so - so. But this game isn't really about graphic but focuses on gameplay.

"Instant battle" is a new feature called "movement is attack". There is a tab that enables you to see ALL of the ongoing battles so you shouldn't miss any. It is also possible to turn on message boxes that inform any battles, just like in HoI.

I must say that I am happy with the map I would only want Austria and Finland to get a few more provinces. I havent seen the dutch east indies yet but I guess they will look nice..

I never said I haven't played it. I downloaded the demo but quickly found out that demos aren't me.

I'm with Mammut on this one. I too dl'ed the demo and played it a bit, but found it too frustrating and felt that it probably wasn't giving the right impression of the full game.

Barring any freak accidents, I'd say Wed/Thurs (or Friday for us over here, perhaps, as Thursday is a holiday in Sweden) seeing as the preorders will be shipped tomorrow.

It's a massive revelation in my case as I ordered the Megapack which - apart form the collectors item HOI1 Platinum - holds games that I haven't played.

In the interest of novelty I will have to try out HOI2, but I was actually planning on doing Victoria first

Victoria's economy is difficult. I still remember playing for the first time just trying not to go bankrupt. After three games I got it right . HoI 2 should be simpler (and more fun )!
