My perception of the PDX business model is to create as much content as possible to maximize their income stream. This gives us more game material but this model does not allow for adequate time to play test and balance the mechanics. To me, this is the main purpose of this forum. We are drawn to it to get instructions, ask questions or bounce ideas off one another but the main business purpose is for PDX to get customer feedback on their gaming mechanics as well as get a feel for what their customer base may like to see moving forward.

When we read comments or proposals that we like, hitting the “agree” button or “helpful” button is actually useful information that benefits all parties. If you agree with the comment, what more needs to be said? You have given your feedback to the statement and served the purpose of this forum. However, hitting the “disagree” button serves zero purpose and should be removed. If you happen to disagree, you should use the reply button to state a counter view or explain why you disagree. Some of us do this instinctively but it appears others have a nasty habit to hit the “disagree” button too often without ever adding any beneficial comments. To me this is simply lazy and counter-productive to the purpose of this forum. Since everyone likes to be a comedian, I’m sure this post is going to get an exorbitant amount of “disagree” button hits now. That is fine, but understand you are not doing anyone any favors nor adding anything to the discussion. It is perfectly OK to disagree but the community needs to know why. After all, the reason you disagree may be very valid and receive tons of “agree” button hits.

Just because I have a job and do the have time to write a detailed explanation of why I disagree does not mean an idea is good.
The button indicates my vote, not my "letter to the editor".

To reiterate, it is perfectly OK to disagree but do not fall under the false illusion that simply clicking that button adds anything beneficial to the group.
For the record, if you have time to read this forum, you have time to write a simple reply, gesh.

Well, what if other have already added to the discussion.
The main benefit from it from what I've seen is the agree/disagree ratio.
The more people disagree compared to agree the less likely it seems that Paradox employees actually take a proper look at the suggestion at hand.
Which is understandable because without a semi-good support (I would guess +100 agrees/helpful?) it usually isn't too big of a point doing something that is suggested unless it is well thought out, well written and so forth.
The ratio itself can help tell what the community thinks of it even if it doesn't show perfectly.

If you agree with the comment, what more needs to be said? You have given your feedback to the statement and served the purpose of this forum. However, hitting the “disagree” button serves zero purpose and should be removed.
also this is sort of what?
why do you give agreeing a pass but not disagree.
pushing the agree button tells you that you agree but not for what purpose or what part of the post they agree on.
it also doesn't add anything either, it just says "hey i agree" and is in a sense about as useful as disagree.
I find that disagree/agree is more or less there for two reasons:
To quickly show your stance on a post.
To make it easier for other people (paradox employees) to tell how well thought out a post is. (even if this can backfire)

if you happen to capture such a case early on, then post a reply. If you capture a post later when some contrary opinions have given a reason to disagree, then hit the "agree" button on their reason. Why is this so difficult???

Anecdotal at best - but I find that it offers people who'd otherwise post something spammy or potentially against the rules a way to vent their impotent rage. Similarly, "helpful" and "agree" help absorb "+1", "First", and "This" spam. You'd be surprised, actually, how effective something so simply can be.

Anyway, this is a topic for the forum in general and moreover it's been done to death so I am closing the thread.
