Hi. I'd like to use mixed zoning everywhere, just like in real cities, but all the noise pollution from commercial is destroying health and property values. I use trees on roads yada yada.
This doesn't happen in real life, from SF to Manhattan mixed zoning property values are thru the roof :)
So, I figure the only way to deal with this is to disable noise pollution (from commercial, or entirely).
Is there a mod to do that? Or a file to edit somewhere?

That doesn't disable noise pollution

It will eliminate noise pollution as an issue with your city.

and also isn't feasible without unlocking everything and unlimited money (or too much money for when you start)

Yes, you need to unlock things once, in order to plop everything. I think the last unlock is 75k now. Unlimited money is optional, you can easily get enough money early on by building minimal stuff and not try to plop everything in your city because you can. You just need to be frugal.

Myself, I just ignore noise pollution as it isn't fatal. But the heavy traffic that causes noise pollution is your issue. It sounds like you're building too fast and playing on slow speeds, which causes your city to grow too fast and generate a lot of traffic. Try playing at x3 speed and build more slowly.

Also, eliminate exporting freight, as it's usually the number one offender of heavy traffic.

Hmm, I need to try it but I think the wiki said it didn't eliminate noise pollution, just the regular one.
As for the noise, the only noise problems I have is the noise from high density commercial zones in mixed-use areas (modelled after e.g. downtown Vancouver, or Manhattan). HD commercial actually produces tons of noise and high-level residential buildings start emptying, even if I plop a clinic nearby.

I like to have mixed zones, within reason. In a high density residential area I will end that zone with a small strip of offices which seem to act as a buffer for the noise of the high density commercial zone which then follow. also the office zone provides work.

I'm not sure why I am not having more of an issue as I thought as I have a six track multi station running into a city centre with a football stadium very close and both sorts of commercial. High and low residential are around those, as well as being built right up to the track. I just looked for the red zones of noise pollution and I guess that my residents are deaf, as they are all well and the buildings fully occupied.

You could always test out the mod which unlocks all the monuments and land marks etc to see what effect the Eden Project has on such pollution. For me it just seemed to make all the land value very high. I have noticed no difference with the noise pollution and a marginal difference with land pollution.

Fandom says that the Eden Project:

The Eden Project is a huge glass house, perfect for vast gardens full of exotic fruits and plants. It greatly increases the city profile and removes pollution from land, air, and water, making land in the city area more valuable.

This applies to buildings only iirc. Heavy traffic still makes noise pollution.

HD Commerce makes a lot of noise. Residential needs to be about 4-8 tiny map tiles away from commerce/industry. With the Eden Project you can build next door. Otherwise you'll have to mod the LD buidings to be skyscrappers to eliminate noise pollution, or use offices as buffers as they don't make noise pollution.

You could always test out the mod which unlocks all the monuments and land marks etc to see what effect the Eden Project has on such pollution. This only unlocks the monuments, but you still need to unlock the Unique Buildings. Unless you're talking about some other workshop mod.

Nice! It truly unlocks everything in the game it seems.

It does and has options for each of the DLC's and, if you want to, it can relock them.

I didn't mind working my way through to unlock some of the monuments and unique buildings, but several had conditions which, for me, would mean that I would not enjoy the progress needed to do that.

Each to their own playing style I suppose, and I limit how I use it for my own enjoyment.

I like several of his mods and so I made a donation to that modder, nice to show gratitude for those who are generous to share.
