Hi,

Is there a way to Disable the Firespreading or make it less agressive... I've bought Disaster DLC because it was cheap and it was the only DLC I didn't bought... but I dislike Disaster... problem is that I've disable the "random disaster" but Fire is Spreading like Hell!! Half of my city burned down and even with a near perfect fire truck coverage they have great difficulty taming the fires (they don't have access to the woods!)

Thanks!

You need fire helicopters to deal with forest fires. Fire trucks will ignore them

no before Disaster, the trees never burned...and fire spread was a mod. I didn't used the mod because even at the lowest score, the fire spread too fast for the fire truck to work! Now with Disaster, tree burn, and burn building, building spread, and complete part of the city burn. I think the RICO buildings are not affected lol Yesterday I lost a Nuke Central because of fire... hopefully it didn't explode... otherwise, all my city would have been destroyed! Is it possible to Uninstall a mod?

To repeat metacritical since you seem to have missed it. Fire helicopters put out forest fires. It doesn't spread so quickly by default that they cannot outpace it. Plus burned trees recovery naturally. Its actually a function of an effect on the ground which dissipates gradually.

Is it possible to Uninstall a mod?

Yes it is. All you need to do is unsubscribe from it. In Steam just unsubscribe from the mod you no longer wish to use; but from the sense of your post, I think you're asking if you can disable the disasters dlc; the answer to that is also yes. Just uncheck it on your Steam Library page. However, fire spread, which seems to be what you want to get rid of, was part of the patch that accompanied the Disasters dlc and is now part of the game. You cannot get rid of a patch.

R U kidding me.. part of the game... that sucks! Seriously I don't know why you're cities arent' burned out. Tonight I was working on my harbor section... put my trees, my ricos everything was cute and fine... until fire started in a tree... in less than 30 seconds, five buildings where on fire! 12-15 fire trucks rushing from the nearest firestation 17! But no helicopter, even if I've put the Fast response rescue... it look as if its not working at all... even if supplied by water and electricity. is there a range of operation because I have 3 in my city. I' didn't put shelter or radio or anything else because all other disaster are disabled. But after 1 min I had 10 buildings burning. and the trees all over the district burning and burning... with no firetruck or helicopter near! help!

You need to place your fire helicopters near a water source for them to be more efficient since they have to fly from their base to water then to the fire location to put fires out.

You also need to place fewer trees as each one is highly flammable

That part sucks. I used to fill my cities with trees. Looked nice. Now I use them more sparingly. :(

In some cases you might be able to get around this by creating mini-parks that only have trees, to fill empty spaces between buildings. Since they're logically different objects the fire spread mechanism should act different on them. This might increase load times though, and you might also want to nerf the leisure effects on them so they're not overpowered and cause tons of tourism :D

An interesting idea, but often the areas filled are outside of zoneable areas. It's all custom work. Often goes around parks and plazas and in between roads. Used more beautification (I think that was the name, been playing vanilla awhile now) to place picnic tables, benches and so on... can't see a lot of that zoomed out though.

Well... I think I'll disable the DLC in Steam... better this then seeing my city burn every minutes and not having trees in my city. 81 Tiles of City is so large that I cannot waste time looking everywhere if the "forest" fire (that is trees in the city) as destroyed important components like my Nukes Centrals (I have over 10 in the city). Without the mod, maybe the firespread but it's more controlled by my firetrucks. I have 3 Rescue Centers, and I've never seen an helicopter (it state that 0/3 is out). I spend so much time microdetailing that I don't want it destroyed! :)

Disabling the dlc will be pointless since fires will still spread even if you disable the dlc as the firespreading mechanic was added to game whether the dlc was bought or not. I think disabling the dlc removes access to the fire helicopters so your city will be worse off disabling Natural Disasters

Its half true... Without the DLC, trees doesn't burn... limiting the firespread to buildings. Without the DLC, you don't have the black burned zones, since trees cannot burn. The main problem is that my Rescue Center seem not to work. Don't know if they have a limited range of action, since I had to place them "outside" the central City. Maybe if you have one per "city square Tile" is ok... but since i'm spread on 81 Tiles... it get bugged! I'll still try to make them respond... I've check a box telling to use Helicopter first instead of vehicules. I'll also try to put more Rescue Centers. Is there another building for the firespreading? Because i've only seen this one. Communication array are only useful with other disaster, which are disabled, so I don't need the microwave, earthquake sensor. I've put a Weather Sensor... to prevent lightning that could burn the forest lol Do I have to put Forest Fire WatchTower to make the helicopter work? with the Rescue Center.

You should probably uncheck the use fire helicopters first policy as this tends to stop fire engines from being deployed at all which would definitely make things worse.

I think fire towers only really need to be added to areas outside the city but if you don't have any placed this could well be why no helicopters show up. The towers definitely have a range of sight so you might as well place a few down to see if this helps.

Looking around, the player can see forest fires outside the city, but the Cims do not. They only see them dangerously close to city structures, or from Fire Watch Towers.

That part sucks. I used to fill my cities with trees. Looked nice. Now I use them more sparingly. :(

I live in Vancouver, BC and we have trees all over the City, down major roads, even our freeway, just lines and lines of trees, creating the illusion of forests within the city. Maybe in olden times that was a problem, I've not heard any reports of those trees causing burning hazards in modern times. They do create the odd issue during wind storms though, mostly just knocking out power lines.

Thank you Seed Chan! I'll give a it a try! And you're right, they should have implemented these options in the core of the game... but I've also found that the Rescue Center is useless (?!). I've found that I putted the RC but in fact what I needed was Helicopter Depots!! Joined we an array of Fire Tower spread every bit of the the city (they're great in park for the kids to watch :p ) As soon as I putted those, 4-5 helicopters got to the sky and gone extinguishing those fires! I also removed the policy to force helicopter use because in some part there were no firetrucks deploy and building were burning! I think the RC is only useful to make terrain recovery or with other disasters, but since those are disabled, They're kind of useless in my city. It gave a great hole in my budget... I had to use Profitable Tourism @ x100 not to got bankrupt... I'll have to found a way to make more money as all the unique building that CO is deploying and the Modders, it get to the budget!
