Threatening letters, Insults and Claiming Throne by Ancestry. Are these all just was to lower relations or do they have another function? I mean claiming throne by ancestry just really annoys countries doesn't it .. you can't actually claim a throne?;)

Remembering I bought the Budget version which doesn't include a rulebook .. well other than a thing with install instructions and keyboard shortcuts!

Isn't it unfair that you have to pay for improving your relations and all you need to do to make them worse is to send a letter ;) ?

Yup. U should pay for diplomats too.

Especially, you should pay for royal marriages.

I mean, come on.

It's not like thoose festivities were cheap, meaning the ones necessary to celebrate a royal wedding.

August of Sachsen built (or wanted to build, don't remember) an entire castle of porcelain, for just one royal marriage.

It should more likely cost 5 or 10 ducats per province + 10% of treasury, to get a royal marriage.

That would have been another way to stop the 'RM with the world' type of players :)

Still have been unable to lay my hands on a copy of EU2, but if it hasnt been included in EU2 I would like to see in EU3:
* For peace setlements, AI can settle at any amount - but players cannt. Enable it for players too.
* For peace setlements, include more options: both give & get provinces in 1 peace treaty, combination of payment / province, demand royal marriage, demand brake up of alliance, demand become part of alliance
* relations shouldnt drop forever, especially between neighbouring countries, when religions are different. despite different religions, Venice did lots of commerce with the islamic world, and relation was strained at times but often surprisingly good. Trade should make a difference.
* perhaps royal visits to other countries could be a means to improve relation - not sure however if tehse happened

I sign to that to. And I also would think if it where awesome if you could create vassals (out of own provinces)or force a conquered enemy to be a vassal instead of annexing them. This way you can continue to haraz them :D

Well, those things ARE possible in EU2 ! The diplo options are still a bit limited, but better than EU1...:)

I found a new use for the insult letters. :)

When you want to arrange a royal marriage with a kingdom and have a +0 relationship with this kingdom, you can send a letter of insult which will lower the relationship to around -30. Then, you can easily arrange your royal marriage without being refused.

Pretty stupid... but it works alright. :)
