err russia is there for devil to play next time :) if he wants to join as a perm player he can get in the random nation circle too.

I think russia is in a fairly good shape too.

actually update to player list, azid is still playing was just sick yesterday, so he will end up playing russia now then.

Does devil want a perm spot in this game?

Anyway would be nice if he can show up and fill in for some spot, or play as an extra nation for bavaria/saxony, persia, mughals or china.

I got the impression that Tonio wanted to trade Portugal for Russia... oh well...

Anyway, I doubt that he wants one of those crappy nations - I know I wouldn't want to play eg. a 2 province vassal of Austria...

Well, my guess would be Mughals or Persia, with Mughals the more viable option. The only thing is it might be better to introduce China at the same time, and it would be better to leave them ai until their revolts have finished.

On that note, what happened with the English attack on China? I thought that Han and Cantonese cultured provinces were off limits, except for colonies? Why was England allowed to take Shanghai, and others?

Er. Hive is Brandenburg. And I don't understand why the emperor seems to think he is about to deal Brandenburg and Denmark a devastating victory. :p

The most viable nation in Europe that is currently ai is the Papal States. In order of preference, I'd like to see Mughals, China (only from the session after next), Persia and Mysore.

The point of the game has and is still to remove the AI competition and replace it with player competition, especially in europe.

I think bavaria and saxony can be viable with some inflation edits and maybe a small startup fund. Sure they are smaller, but I dont think europe is necessarily only big guys play field, small guys can make a difference too and grow larger, or die. but still :)

Anyway Idon think we had a rule about china provinces, that Ican remember maybeI need to check my own rules :)

Anyway china will be played at some point soon likely anyway so I dont know if its the best play to take land there now. I'd love to see an AAR about what caused the rifts in peace though and the war against china to commence.

War in China? If China is played that early, I will immeaditly cede all my conquests for a little sum, no way I could hold onto it.

I really don't share your need to bring in Saxony or Bavaria this late, but as long as I'm not the one to play them... :D

I won't behave any differently to Saxony than if it was AI though. ;)

Saxony, Bavaria and Papal States are the only minors still viable in Europe. It might be acceptable for bringing someone new or newish into the game to learn the ropes and watch others with these countries, which I did, to an extent, as China towards the end of DoN2. However, with the country switching in DU, this becomes impossible.

In any case, I don't think a nation that is viable in the longterm as a 2-province nation is going to be viable in the longterm as a human 2-province nation, it just becomes too boring for the player.

Bavaria was actually in these times near equal to austria in military at times greater, saxony also a formidable state, I wouldnt see it impossible to giving them some additional benefits to make them more viable.

Anyway I dont see it impossible having these as extra nations we get additional players to play who are not in the cycle. As long as they won't ruin the game playing them .P

Well lets see the majors filled first - we were having trouble finding a BB player, let alone Saxony or Bavaria. And personally,I'd rather see Persia played more than the other two.

I know Hive is Brandenburg, that was the joke :) Of course the empire will give your protestant rabble a sound drumming! :D

If we get a saxony player, the emperor kindly reminds that player that his nation only exists because of the imperial forces. I would recommend that same player to accept the eternal protection from Austria.

Austria would like to declare Saxony as her vassal. In return Austria guarantees her independence and the protection of proven agressive nations like Brandenburg. Saxony can become a hero from zero, in the warm armpits of the empire.
