2. Stein ? Brandenburg
3. PJL Russia

Stein's situation is still a bit uncertain, as well as if Twoflower gets that connection working.

Incase it happens so and we can't get subs, Brandenburg won't be played. I'll see if I can find someone to sub if I get spare time, anyone else is also welcome to do this.

England has a very high trade efficiency from being reformed and from good trade tech. Before annexing pagans pushed stab and stab costs down last session, she was trading at near that level. If you aren't so worried about tech costs (I was waiting to get trade and infra 5) then you can take inflation to get trade income, convert provinces and promote legal counsels (which England still needed).

Exciting session, thanks everyone!

Russia got it too harsh today, makes me almost feel quilty. But Poland got its revenge finally :)

Congrats for Red and Archduke for great national recoveries, OE looks pretty impressive again and those economic listings for England were sure impressive

In future, I am defintely going to start more aggresively monopolising my COT's - the new rules were supposed to stop that sort of thing by making it uncompetitive, but it looks like it's not effective enough (a 20/20 English monopoly in N America anyone....that alone would count for about 40d a month).

What the hell?!?

Is your dice rigged?

I warned you!, time for Austria to become a colonial power!

As to Brandenburg. Brand is now up to 7 provinces, all done by the AI. Go figure, anyways, Brand is shaping up to be an important power in Europe so I think they should be played by a player. Definetely over Denmark at least. Please let Sweden go smash Denmark. :D

What's up with the Denmark bashing the whole time?!

Sweden has a reliable ally in Denmark and besides that, Denmark is busy with fighting pagans in Africa. :D

But I wouldn't mind playing BB instead of Denmark, but really: why is it needed that Sweden rolls over Denmark all the time?
She can do her things in the baltic, in Russia, invade England etc.

As GM, RedPhoenix will make the final decision, but there is a player/country list for next week's turn about ten posts back. It is likely that at least one of the those players won't be able to make it, but even if they all come, you would probably be able to play Mughals or Persia. It's Red's call whether we can accomodate another player country or not in that case.

You should check the first post in this thread for some of the rules specific to this game. Essentially, we expect some sort of roleplaying, though that really boils down to expecting players to be able to justify their actions historically, particularly declarations of war and other diplomacy. That isn't too difficult once you get the hang of it.

Denmark must be bashed. :D

Everytime and all the time heh.

Aside from that sillyness, I agree Denmark has made herself a strong protty state, but with our lack of players lately, we should think about lossing some player nations. Denmark or Brandenburg is probably the 2 choices that would go AI. And frankly for me, I think Brandenburg is far more important to the bigger scheme of things. Especially to balance out Austria since Austria can go wild in Germany with France having little say with Spain breathing down their necks.

As Owen posted, we can use an additional player surely. It would be nice if you could contact me via ICQ for more details 164526 is my UIN #.

I think we can manage up to 14 players on my host rather well, and as on any good host thats a figure that seems to be still stable.

Some roleplaying would be lovely, we don't want gamey players in this game it beats the purpose, meta game thinking should be avoided. Other than that we don't have strict rules governing it.

Hope to hear more from you :)

Denmark is actually the poorest player-nation of all :)
But I don't think that Brandenburg is importanter then Denmark. They were perhaps in history, but they won't in this game. And I don't think we should force a important BB to get them a player and drop Denmark.

No BB is a stronger Austria/Poland?, no Denmark is a stronger Sweden.

Ok FAL, I guess we'll agree to disagree. :)

Still what happens when someone else other then me plays Austria. I haven't been expansionistic, The Austrian player has alot of opportunity to expand in Germany.

Look at Machiavelli and what Austria has done. At least I am trying to not to gobble all the HRE states in Germany. There are still a few states in south Germany that are alive. Most notably Bavaria. Austria also has 4 vassals which I have made no opportunity to pull into my alliance and try to diplo them.

One of the chief reasons for my less then agressive policy is the fact that Brand has been AI for so long. Plus they haven't expanded into Northern Germany much, which didn't force me to counter with expansion of my own.

So in hindsight maybe this is good, but you realize that out of the 6 or 7 sessions we played. I played Austria all but 2 sessions. I'm sure this trend will change one of these days. Still it does begs the question if someone else other then me plays Austria. And decides to be expansionistic. Who is going to stop Austria? France isn't in any position because of Spain. OE have to deal with a combination of Polish, Austrian and Venetian to block them.

Wasn't the intention that we try to keep some HRE nation's alive? Yet its quite easy for an Austrian player to say he is, since the North will be left alone and justify expanding in the south. I think player Brand will help in making an Austrian player hestitate in expanding wildly and with Denmark gone.:D Allow Sweden to become powerful in the North so they can intervene in Europe with more influence.

Those are my reasons, but as I said, let's agree to disagree on this issue.

I agree that Austria needs counter balance just as much as sweden does, the sad part is the we can't have a player playing all HRE minors which ofcourse would be ideal, taking away the easy lets annex all minors strategy. And making play more realistic, for now we just have to hope players use common sense and don't play totally unrealistic. I think this does extend to other nations than austria alone though.

I hope brandenburg will be played anyway, saxony or bavaria would be great to have played too. We'll see if we have enough players for that. Not sure if I want to be dropping denmark out just yet...
