Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, by chance?
Joss Whedon. Ugh. That's worse than the invalid build.
You're just the little aussie who could, aren't you?
I do not read the PMs before I decide to execute them. And also, according to my house rules, as a similarity to Board Diplomacy, I do not tell players whether the orders are correct or not. It depends entirely on themselves. It was only a stroke of good will that I gave you an opportunity to redo the orders.
As I said before, invalid orders sometimes are useful, so I agree that you should not correct them. And to keep coherent, with the Turkish mistake and all.
I did mean invalid orders, not failed ones. I can think of some occasions where they would be handy, but I'm not just going to spoil it![]()
I can think of handy cases too, but none in which it is problematic if the GM informs the player they're invalid.
If it were official policy that the GM informed players of invalid orders, then a player would not have plausible deniability when he says he didn't realize the orders were invalid.
A more elaborate deception would have to be constructed such as a power outage, sick cat, et cetera which might stretch credulity.
Plus, the GM might not have time to read every PM before the deadline, especially with powers changing orders 5 times per season... (guilty)
This. I agree that this time I had only two PMs to read but I am simply not going to read every PM as the orders often change. I have seen a lot of incorrect orders (that were corrected by the players soon after) and I have decided that keeping it like the Board Diplomacy does will be the best.
I actually wanted to have the Russian build correct so I sent Vainglory the PM (I thought that he could be online due to a similarity to the WW Big deadline). For example, if there was just one possible place to build I would build there even with incorrect orders.
Front to back, but I overlooked that note; I thought I'd spoken to Culise about it, maybe I didn't, and he seems to be very knowledgeable. I appreciate being told it's invalid, but with 20 minutes to deadline when it was submitted 14 hours before...
Too quiet.
Too quiet.
These mammoth deadline phases have killed it. Happened in the last game too.
