Hi all,
I'm playing my second HoI game, and have Bolt's 1.02c - and might I say great work Bolt and Trip on all the effort you guys have put in!

Have got a couple of questions if anyone would be kind enough to help me out:
1. Am playing Germany, it's January 1937 and I don't have any replacements for my ministers - is this normal. I played Brazil in my first game and didn't have any then either.

2. What is the best strategy for when/how often to influence nation/bring to alliance. I've spent oddles of diplomacy points influencing Italy and Austria, but neither will form an alliance with me (did Hitler have bad BO?). How much should you influence nation before you try to form an alliance?

Thanks guys - and brilliant forum too...:)

1. Haven't played Germany yet but I hear that von Ribbentrop becomes available sometime in 1938.

2. a. The more DI you have stockpiled when you do a diplo action the more likely it will be effective.
b. Sometimes you can't get powerful countries to join until you show you are powerful and successful.
c. Don't bother with Austria; just wait for the Anschluss event in 1938. Czech or Poland might be worth allying but probably not Austria.

Thanks guys,
Will be a bit more patient with the diplomacy and leaders. Although I don't think I can take your advice jdrou on trying to ally with Czechoslovakia as my tanks are currently rumbling around Praha. :D
I don't think they'll be responsive to an alliance at the moment.
Cheers.:D

Also keep in mind that diplomacy is often a very slow and painful process... it may take years for things to pay off. :) I remember way back when I couldn't get anyone to join me, then after I crushed France, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Italy all joined me. Talk about leeches. :)

And welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay. :)
