I'm playing as Bremen in a GC at very hard.

I've vassalized Friesland as part of a peace treaty, and through a barrage of personal letters, I've got relations up to +200.

I have a mil. alliance with them, no RM (they are vassals, so I can't have one), relations +200, rep: honourable, and they have been my vassals for 14 years.

But I don't even have the option to diplo-annex them.

They have a different culture (they are dutch, Bremen german), ad we don't have any common border.

Can anybody explain what the problem is?

Thanks

BzAli

Thanks for the quick reply...

Well, I just have to work on annextation of Oldenburg first.

I have noticed that my diplo-annex are often turned down (playing as France), is this related to rep.?

Is there anything I can do to increase the chances of diplo-annexing?

Yes, having high badboy points lower your chances of successfully diplo-annexing. Also, the diplomacy rating of your monarch is an important factor.

and how long they have been a vassal is also important.

The longer the better

I have heard that you should wait 30 years until you diplo-annex.

I didn't know BB points affected your diplo-annexing chances, I was England at 'Worse than Dishonorable Scum' or just plain dishonorable scum (I can't remember which) and I still annexed the Portugese empires diplomatically...

Your DP setting is important, as a good monarch who is living in a plutocracy won't vassalize or d-annex anyone.

What year is it in your game, Maybe they have a bigger empire than yours?

You're right, it's a myth. If there is a relation, it is small.

You have explored the whole map, so you know where all of portugal's colonies are ? What is the ratio eg 2:1 of # of provences you control vs # that they control.

No need to overreact. You can force-vassalize (0 BB) by taking all their cities (colonies and TPs don't count). Then after 30 years in which they grow better and better, diploannex (only 1BB per province).

So max Aristocracy is the key? I didn't see anyone else pick up on this comment and I wonder, is that a big help or a small one?

How do I get the relations to improve?

Yearh, I know about the diplomatic tools, but when I play, the relations between Bremen (that I play) and my vassal sometimes just detoriate for no reason I can see.

For instance, Hannover seems to loose about 3-5 points of relations pr. year, and we have same religion and culture.

But Gelre, they just keep standing where they are. They're dutch, I'm german, so its obviously not a cultural thing.

The rest of the catholic world has hit about +125 pr. nation, and then the relation will just stay there, unless I pour money into it. But it automatically rose to up there.

If either of you control the others Core provence it will cause relationships to suffer. Putting his merchants out of business will cause a -5 relationship hit. Your religious tollerance settings determine in general where your relations will migrate to with different nations. Annexing, attacking and BB causing actions in general will also effect your relations, less so with nations you have a RM with or of a different religion than the target of your aggression.
