Diplo Annex of Regency Councils possible?

OK I have searched on the forums and only see mention that you are unable to Diplo Annex other countries while you have a Regency Council in posession of your throne, however can anyone tell me if it is possible to Diplo-Annex a vassal that currently has a Regency Council on the throne? I have been trying to Annex Mecklenburg for several years now (started with a king then they died and is now Regency). If it is not possible I will just get max rep and stop trying.

If you are getting the button (ie its not greyed out) and the chances don't read 'impossible' then its possible - when you try to diplo annex when you country has a reg. council, the button will be greyed out and you can't even select it.

Yeah, it's possible. I know the feeling of trying to diplo-annex with a "maybe" chance and getting 20+ failures, though. In one game as castille, navarra rejected diplo-annexing (with "Likely" as the chance) for over 30 years!

(first game, played as mantua, annexed Ferrara, diploannexed Urbino, and was crushed by a Venice-Sicily-Aragon alliance before 1480. After that, I played France o )

It seems to me that a country with a Regency Coucil is less likely to accept a Diplo-annexation (and Vassalisation-offers) than the "Likelihood" would otherwise indicate.

It's possible...but even if it says "Very Likely", I kinda get the feeling that it isn't.

So have I, but sometimes "maybe" actually translates into "only if you nag us for a decade and spent a few thousand golds in gifts".

But if you do need to spend a lot of money - you do get a very well developed territory eventually!

Playing as France I've got to 1500 without managing to DA any of the vassels. Bad Diplo monarchs, expensive.

Thanks for the feedback all. I think I'm going to just max out rep with them and wait until the monarch ascends as when I fail instead of the normal 200 -> 150 rep loss it keeps getting worse each time. At first it was 145 then 135 now its 125 and each gift only bumps me back up a point or two. Its really not worth it for two provinces at this time.

Indeed. Sometimes I hate the randomness of diplomatic actions. It took me 3 attempts to diploannex Aragon as Castille, but one-province Sicily keeps resisting my calls...

On that note, I managed to diplo-annex the mamluks with a very unlikely chance on the first try as Ottoman Empire. Probably the luckiest I've been in the game so far.

A England/Great Brittian in my current game, I diplo-annexed Scottland (maybe), Munster (maybe), Liencaster (maybe), Brittany (unlikely) and Potugal (unlikely) successfully on the first attempt each in less then a year for all five of them. Then I spent 40+ years trying to diplo-annex Aragon (unlikely through likely over that timespan) before finally getting it. Go figure.

It still seems to easy to do those by diplomacy....especially diplo-annex when you forced them to be a vassal 11 years ago....

As far as I know a monarch's administration affects diplo-annex, (I know for sure that your monarch's does, not really sure if the 'annexee' does) so I would guess that a country with a regency (admin = 3) would actually be easier to diplo-annex. I have found that if my monarchs admin is higher the chance tends to be at least maybe, unless I've been killing all the natives and everybody hates me

I sometimes hate diplo-annexing. In a game with Saxony I diplo-annexed Brandenburg and Bavaria pretty quickly, yet Lüneburg kept on rejecting me. They pushed it so far, I broke all connections and force-annexed them.

I guess the Regent hates me or something. I have diplo-annexed several other countries now with only two months in between if I fail to get them back to 200 and agreeing but the regency is sitting at around 158 with me and each gift only keeps it at that number for years now? I guess I will just need to insult/warn them and invade as its just two provinces and one with a COT in it. I dislike invading fellow catholic countries and annexing them for the BB points

Honestly, I feel 10 years is way too short... something like 50 years would be a lot more reasonable. I would mod it for myself it it were possible.

I finally got the Regency to conceed after many gifts it started to go up and the next try at Demand Annex they caved to me < evil laugh >
