Wouldn't the problem with difficulty levels be that you can't add anything that changes the economy of the AI or the player since it would fuck up the world market something royally? I guess you could limit it to military/research etc bonuses/penalties or something.

On a side note. While we can't choose difficulty right now, they are mentioned in static_modifiers.txt. That means the game is actually using a difficulty level right now, even though we can't change it. What is that default difficulty the game is using? Does anyone know? I use the diff setting for modding alot.

Open your savegame in notepad++ (or whatever), there you see at line 21 the number 2. Change this to 0 and you are playing at the very easy difficulty.
This doesn't change anything though, as there are no modifiers in static_modifiers.txt for very_easy_player, but this way you can at least add your own ones.

I support non-inclusion of difficulty levels. Rules should be equal, both for the player and for the AI.

same here, i looked for nearly ten minutes,

i can't remember ever seeing a in house paradox game without "Difficulty Settings"

the question has to be asked..... "what were they thinking"?

I think this is the most subtle and annoying of the Paradox games; once the wrinkles are out, it may be the best yet. Perhaps the former is the reason why there is no data for the difficulty settings: a little nudge could seriously unbalance the game?

I'd like a difficulty setting :D but i do think for the most part it has been really balanced. I just like to add stuff in the static modifiers under easy/hard, etc... to make changes only for the player
