Greetings,
I was searching the FAQ section for an answer, but havent found anything about the exact effect of difficulty levels.
What do they give to player/ai?

Eveything costs more for the player, the harder you go.

BB reduces slower, the harder you go.

True BB wars only happen on V/hard.

Chances of success for colonists/conversions decrease (the harder you go) - dont know if this one is true, but I would guess so :D


(Unfortunately or perhaps not the A'I' doesnt get any smarter with higher difficulties.

Thanks, as I've seen the census taxes are reduced on harder levels, am I right?
Also I'd like to hear opinions about what diff/agressiveness lvls do ppl play on (I'm using AGCEEP).

Im not sure if the census taxes decrease (the harder you go), I would guess they just stay the same and the costs of things are just modified higher.


I usually just play Very hard / Furious when I play Vanilla.

Weakling is the recommended aggressiveness level for AGCEEP. Difficulty is only a matter of taste.

Personally: Hard/Weakling

What do the AI aggressiveness levels change? I hear furious is actually easier than coward :wacko:

AFAIK it effects the AI nations to dow you (and maybe other AI nations as well, though I'm not sure about this).

Yes, more frequent AI wars with high aggressiveness levels. AI countries will spend almost all their budget in wars (troops building). Many AI countries will thus be exhausted and easy prey for a player.
Many AI countries will be annexed and little blobs will form, also easier for a player to force-vassalize (and often in defensive wars, almost BB free).

Isn't that harder? I mean if they are larger and richer than you and because AI have manpower cheats they can build more and more troops and completely destroy you.
