"Different Version of the Game"

Alright, so, I have Stellaris, every DLC, and so does my friend. When we try to join eachother's game, it says we "don't have the same version of the game". I know that it is only on my end, because he can join strangers' games, but I can't and get the same message. I triple checked my updates, verified my file(s) integrity, linked my steam and paradox accounts, etc. The problem persists. What do i do???
