From what i read in fiction, there is many different versions on hive minds, from where each drone are their own specific individual in a network/mind that creates a "over mind" to where there is one mind and each drone is like its hands, preforming its will.

I think if each drone is their own individual, other bio pops could also live on their planets as long as they are a minority, while with a single strong hive mind it would be impossible to have other bio pops.

So, should there be ethics for hive minds defining if its a networking mind or a single mind?
or any other versions you might think of.

I discussed this in one of my replies some time ago (can't be bothered to look for it), but Stellaris currently only has the One Mind -> Autonomous Drones setup. Kinda like the Orz from Star Control II.

I'd like more hive mind types.

I was always fascinated with the concept of a 'unanimous agreement' type hive mind which isn't actually a hive mind so much as all the drones simply fully agreeing with each others actions/functioning with the exact same thinking patterns. It'd be interesting to become a Hive mind through that kind of a path.

I also would love a 'force of nature' type hivemind that isn't actually sapient, more like an ant colony who evolved into making spaceships and learning tech. I want this the most for my terravores and devouring swarms. I often make 'forest' 'bug hive' and 'moving rock hive' type AI empires and RP this type of hive.

Also the opposite of hives would also be interesting for Machine empires. Why should machine empires always be hive minds? I'd love an empire of simple robots like the robots in Nier Automata. THey can start off simpler and dumber than synths but fix themselves up to become on par with a synthetic evolution robot empire in the later game.

It would be interesting if you could have a type of hive mind that is tolerant of little enclaves of non-hive minded individuals among them. It would be a kind of symbiosis on a larger scale (or perhaps a nicer version of Driven Assimilators).

Imho that's what Hive Mind Civics should be. Instead, most of them are pretty bland, both thematically as well as in terms of gameplay.
