I don't see the difference between the sewage outflow pipe and the treatment plant, i mean they both seem to unload in the rivers very dirty water.

Could somebody explain me what is exactly the difference between the two?

It seems to me that a water treatment plant releases less polluted water in the river.

This is also one of my minor annoyances.

Here in South Africa (As in a lot of other countries, I would imagine) we have water treatment plants that is not remotely near a river, and they produce clean drinkable water.

85% treated. Very important I think when dealing with lakes more then rivers. Though assume still good to use it to prevent area pollution maybe it will climb banks of the land overtime?

Yeah. Since my first creation will be a city with a lake it will be very important to have one of those.

And at least least in my country when they treat water is not potable, its good enough for fishes but not drinkable. And well in my point of view is a waste of money to make potable water if you are going to dump it in a river that is not potable (even if its clean). xD

Same for me. XD But maybe a little more upkeep.
Yeah I can do that. I can do multi versions too but prob keep it just a tad upkeep maybe the 15% more or a tad over.

Not sure if we can just replace it or create a new one. I will try to replace it as long as you remove it goes back to the default one so that it does not ruin someone setup. If not I will create as a new building.

That would be an awesome mod... I wonder if the sewage treatment plant can be located away from the River / Water source. And have an inlet pipe and outflow pipe that sends it to dump in the body of water.

Oh, we're comparing our countries' water networks now?

In the country where I live, tapwater is potable and treated water is potable.

i agree that the watertreatmet plants are not treating the sewage water enoth. but in one way it makes sense beace modern treatment plant dose not treat the water to 100% its acelly more like 98-99% so maybe not the kind of water you whant to drink but its still safe to realse in to the environment atleast this is what i leard in school then we had a visit at the lokal sewage treatment plant. and this is one of the more modern plants with 3 step treatment (mekanikal, kemikal and biologikal treatment)

I'd suggest to release in a DLC a more advanced plant capable of making the water potable (if well funded of course) so eliminating the need for dumping stuff in the water ways.

yeah that woud be realy nice and even if you have to dump the treated water in the water ways you woudent have to think were you put the treatmentplant related to the water pumpingstations

The treatment level of the Water Treatment Plant is around 85% as someone posted before. It is to have both a cleaner sewage output but also still give some challenge to the players when using the water areas for pumping clean water and disposing the sewage. I'd say that for those who want to have a water treatment plant that cleans the sewage 100% there will be mods to tweak the values (at least some of you guys were planning to make them, anyway). As always, it's up to you if you want to go with the mods or play the vanilla version.

There could be a Water Treatment Plant with level of treatment 98-99% but it could be possible to build only with university in city for example as research in university.
or you have to research some kind of add on for the normal treatment plant and then plop it in like it worked on simcity 5 (thats is one of the only parts that excely worked in that game)

What about if one breaks down? In SimCity, once that happened you were stuck with simply turning it off but if you tried to bulldoze it, to place a new one, it made horrendous ground pollution. Will there be a way to pay to have our broken treatment plants dismantled responsibly by a service that removes the sludge?
