At first I thought that no jihads meant I could play nubia in peace, but still getting holy wars on me (although so far only counts and dukes, but there is like five of them declaring war on me at the same time...) Someone please explain the difference.

Edit: Damn fatimad attacked me this time.

Edit: Argh I feel dumb the Jihad is their Crusade XD I have no clue why that took so long to click in and why I put the two together...

AFAIK, only the Caliph can declare the Jihad in order to conquer one kingdom. That is a Muslim equivalent to the Crusade. The target of the Muslim holy war is an individual duchy and any Muslim ruler can declare a holy war.

Yeah thanks I have no clue why that went past my head. I think I just got too excited about the fact that I could play Nubia and survive that it didn't connect what a Jihad was and Nubia is still as hard to survive as you first get Aswan taken the Axum comes.

Jihad is the equivalent of the catholic crusades, meaning basicly: Who want a Kingdom? In brief, you get generally close to the whole members of the religion on your butt. Holy Wars are sweeter, they can be declared by anyone as long as you're not of the same religion but generally, only the one of the same faith in the region, in brief, that would profit by it, will join the one who launched it;
Example: If you get a Sunni Holy War on you, you will not get the Almodavid travelling the whole map just to kick your last soldiers butt, which they would do under a Sunni Jihad.

I don't want to be pessimistic but playing Nubia would be almost impossible if you stay Orthodox. Try to creates division in the Fatimid so that they always stay at war with someone else but since you have NO allies in the region... good luck.
