So we all had our hopes up I'm sure for the numerous bugs to get fixed with this 'patch' that we had to wait for an extra month on.

However, I'm very disheartened by the lack of a single bug fix, and instead a varitable slew of plainly obvious new introduced bugs. The extra month, I figured, was to be spent getting things right was it not? Apparently it was just for vacation time, which the playtesters must still be on.

C'mon Paradox, you're better than this!

Horribly long autosaves are back!

Disapearing units in the build window still happens.

Rebel flags.

Only 2 or 3 nations actually able to reach the WETN with ships (because only England and Britany are close enough for naval supply)

Cores still dissapear the month after anexation.

Cant form an alliance, or get fleet basing rights from protectorates, who still ally you worst enemy, but not you.

Cant use ships to transfer trade from the ameicas because you own no provinces there, and cannot get basing rights.

Ironman disabled every reload.

And the list goes on.

So much for testing SP... In-House MP testing session ftw... haha

I am expecting at some point in the future to see posts stating that SP is dead... mark my word ;)

That´s strange. I always play ironman and my autosaves are almost not noticeable. They take less than half a second.

Are any types of files saved locally on the players computer when playing ironman? If so, my guess is that your anti-virus softer is causing the slowdown.

Horribly long autosaves are back!

Part of this problem is likely caused by the fact that 1.4 saves are at least 33% larger than 1.3.2 saves:

1444 Start, England, game saved immediately after start:

1.3.216,798,380

Do you have an SSD for your local disk? This would insulate you from a lot of slowdowns, because they're so much faster.

Yes they're stored locally first, then synced.

You already grant them your protection for trade power. Why would they also want to be involved in YOUR wars as well? Would Kongo want to be at war against the UK? That would be an ally then, not a protectorate.

I agree for the rest of your post though.

Protectorates are not allowed to ally with anyone but their protector....except they can. This=bug.

The long arse save is some sort of internal bug thing. It used to happen often in 1.2 as well. However restarting the game (possibly 3 or 4 times) can make it go away.

When/where? Can you give an example. I haven't tested super thoroughly yet but generally when I've annexed, timers have updated correctly to start from time of annexation, including in Full Annex.

Appears to still be based on game start, not change of ownership. I took Wales from england, released it as a vassal, and GBs cores instantly poofed. Some time in the mid 1600s.

I've only played about 60 years worth of an Ironman campaign since 1.4 launched, but I already noticed one example of core-disappearing funkiness: Denmark released Hamburg and one other province from the Hansa, and the Hansa's cores immediately vanished. Culture and religion remained the same, so that's not the problem as far as I can tell. (Obviously this took place long before the typical ~1650 breakpoint; apparently there are two different bugs affecting the disappearance of cores.)

Other than that, though, the longer timers do show up in the tooltips, and if they generally hold true, then it's a welcome change. The new tooltip for vassal holdings is particularly encouraging.

What is this subject-holdings tooltip you speak of?

Don't have the game in front of me at the moment; someone else could probably provide the verbatim if you want it -- but basically, if you mouseover the little icon on a vassal's core, instead of giving you a date by which the core will disappear, it says something like, "this nation is a subject of so-and-so."

Anyway, the implication is that core timers are suspended for vassal provinces, even though the vassal nation technically exists. If that implication holds true, it's a huge improvement over the old system, under which timers only suspended if the nation ceased to exist.

Or at least that's how I read it.

Yeah I like that subject-holdings tooltip!

Appreciate your work. On reflection, I actually saw the core-disappearing thing in random spots even when I was using your mod, prior to 1.4. It only happened rarely, and seemingly only with certain countries. For example, every time Shun conquered a Ming province, the Ming's core would disappear instantly (or near enough to instantly). I have no idea why, and it seems to be unrelated to the more general timer bug that most people mean when they talk about cores disappearing.

Oh, so that means you never lose cores on your vassals?

That's the theory, anyway. Other people's vassals too. Or rather, the theory is that vassals don't get penalized (timer-wise) for existing when they exist in name only; after all, a vassalized nation could theoretically exist for the entire duration of the game without getting a real opportunity to reacquire its cores.

Ah, and you just saw this second-hand? I mean, you weren't either Shun or Ming, you just saw the AI Shun fighting AI Ming? That sounds very much like Shun beat Ming in a war, and then forced them in the Peace to Return Core a Shun province. That cedes it to Shun, and remove Ming's core. Return Core is a standard, WAD feature that's known to remove cores. The only thing is that I thought the warleader couldn't get the defeated nation to Return Cores to the warleader, only to a different nation. Might be wrong. Or maybe Shun wasn't the WL and someone else returned their Ming-held cores to them.

That's the best strategy for getting cores back to your vassals - e.g. find a dead nation, like maybe Syria. DOW the holder of the cores, and annex one Syria core. Then Release as Vassal Syria. Then DOW the holder again, and then do Return Core to Syria. That gets Syria's cores back with no AE, and it removes the current holder's cores as well so they can't Reconquest.

Anyway, does that sound reasonable? That Shun or someone was forcing Ming to Return Cores to Shun?

Sure, in some cases it could be cores ceded through peace, but I also see it when nations are released, either by myself or the AI. But you could be right about Shun; it's possible that AI Shun just has a fetish for core ceding and that my watching Shun and Ming constantly trade territory made the example stick in my head.

The AI could probably stand to have its priorities with respect to culture conversions and core ceding backed off. That's a different discussion, though.
