Does downloading this mod help me to remove the grey boxes and empty grassfields from the vanilla DI:G?

Probably not (but you could always try)
Anyway... to have a 100% working DI:G you should install it over a never modded version of HoI3: SF, if you have other mods (not specifically DI:G compatible) weird things can be experienced.

I don't have any other mods. I bought the Hearts of Iron III Complete Edition that comes with all the sprite packs.

The only mod I have is DI:G. I hope this works. Also, is ANYONE willing to upload his or her gfx folder for DI:G so that I can copy and paste onto mine?

Thanks!

Just out of curiosity how did Dies Irae:G do since it's released? Better than Common Weapons? I really hope so, I would love to see you both working on an UK/USA/Soviet DLC.

Armored cars come up alot in the forum and recon plays an important role in every aspect of combat, if you know where your enemy is and in what numbers you can spot his weaknesses and hit him where it hurts or outmaneuver him. As it is now they arnt used as they should be in HoI3, the trickster gives a 10% chance of surprise, is there anyway to give AC a 10% chance of surprise and the units its attach to. I do mod but have never got into modding HoI, not enough hours in the week. If it could be done u could be putting AC units back into divisions where they belong. There should be penalties for them driving off by themselves in divisional sized elements of 4-5 regiments.

(don't worry about being the 50th telling me about a bug, I'd rather have 1000 same bug reports than none)

Don't know if in the 48 pages of this thread somebody already reported this, but...
Year 1941. Succesful sea lion in the East Anglia (playing as GER of course).
After years of bombing, spy activity, convoy raiding etc national unity for UK is quite low.

I took Suez (both sides), London & Birmingham.
NatSpain took Gibraltar
Italy took north Egypt & Cairo.

UK surrenders... to Italy.
Whyyyyy??????

Not checking all the posts...

It seems in Di:G that the AI command is a little different. I'm not sure though, because I usually play ICE. I tried Fall Gelb several times under different AI Heirarchy and found the AI attacking at half the width of every battle? This slows things down dramatically and pretty much halts the advance. Can get through it better if I just go manually.

I wouldn't think you have changed things that much... but is this something?

I put the GD regiment with a AG HQ unit (don't ask) but now can't remove it from the HQ...even though the MP brigade that started with the HQ can be removed. So that's a bug, but anyway, when it comes time to upgrade the unit to division status, how will that work?

This seems to standard for all unique units. There might be a way to edit it, otherwise you will need to wait to upgrade that regiment to mechanised. It seems the upgraded regiments (at least for unique units and Affican/desert upgrades) do not return to their source but are placed like a new unit. The mech upgrade is a long way off. If it was me, I would turn that HQ into a serious combat HQ!

Hi all,

As mentioned by Kaarle XII and others, I don't think I am the only one with this problem.

Can someone please help me with the following problems:

1. Grey boxes on unit portraits
2. Empty Grass fields for airplanes. (Do other people get the same?)

I believe some of you guys should have a problem-free gfx folder that contains the PROPER pictures.
I hope someone is kind enough to upload the folder so that I can download it and overwrite over mine.

THANK YOU!

I don't understand:
1. your gfx folder is full of pictures with greyboxes? (I mean, you see them in Windows and not ingame) Please upload one here.
2. Airplanes models are in the experience layer, not in the model file. They should appear ingame.
3. Did you try to install the DLC again or contact the seller?

We can't just throw away the gfx folder on the internet, this is copyrighted.

Hi DevilDread,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if my previous post did not seem clear to you.

1. I don't know what TGA files are but I think they should be the primary cause behind the grey boxes problem. I can't open them in the first place.
2. What is an "experience layer"? Could you explain to me how they will appear "ingame"? So are you saying that the empty grassfields are normal?
3. I tried reinstalling the DLC three times but I got the same results all the time. I didn't contact the seller yet (Maybe I should start there first?)

My DI:G gets installed automatically by Steam when I install "Hearts of Iron III Complete Edition". So I cannot install it separately.

Thanks!

1. Try to open the .tga with paint.net, this is a free graphic editor. Then tell me if the models have the greyboxes in the .tga. That way I will know if this is game related or if your installation is screwed up.
2. The empty field appears ingame then?
3. Try to copy the DLC files (the whole \mod folder) in another location (not in HOI3 folder), then delete the one you have in the HOI3 folder and paste the copy in it. I don't know if I am clear but the idea is to make the DLC be the last thing installed over HOI3. I don't know of steam works but I am afraid there is a problem with the auto-patching process.

Thanks, DevilDread,

I will try all 1, 2, and 3 and post the results later. I deleted HOI3 out of frustration yesterday. It will take a while (slow internet speed) for me get it downloaded again.

By the way, I found out that you can open TGA files using QuickTime Picture viewer. Francesco's Mod (the new DI:G soldier faces) files do NOT have grey boxes. Maybe they might work...

I will also add that from the last installment, when you open the Production Screen to create a new brigade, the unit portraits there do not have grey boxes.

It is only when I view brigades on the main map do I see the grey boxes. This applies to empty grass fields as well (I can see pilots on production screen but can't on main map).

Yes, teh very same in my game. Convoy hunting is a turkey shoot, no matter how much tech and resources the AI devotes to avoid it (and AI is not very smart at knowing which should be the priorities, so things are even worse than they should be), and no matter the events the UK AI gets that boost convoy escort efficiency. However, the problem is really a vanilla one, although I guess in DI things could be changed so that subs are not so utterly good, AI makes things better, or ASW becomes better, so that more subs are sunk. IN my current game as Germany it´s 1943 and I have had NO LOSSES of any sub.

Strange, I have sunk pretty much every convoy the UK has (NAVs in the Med and SS all around the UK), but after pushing the UK into the Sinai (with help from my Italian Axis partners), they seem to get supplies there and are now counterattacking! (Jan 1942). Kudos to the Italian AI for knocking out Gibraltar and Cyprus (and maybe Malta, didn't check).

Regarding expeditionary forces (Volunteer Foreign Units) by the way, I don't know if this is fixed for 1.02, but why not give them to GER as buildable forces (just like the elite units), free MP, cost in IC for gear.

These guys were in with the Third Reich to the bitter end and replacements can come from the 10% bonus recruitment. You wouldn't need to return them anyway until after the war when this becomes irrelevant.

Forward to the East for our Great Crusade against Bolshevism!
