You can apply the f patch to your steam installation.

it seems you do not know what you are talking about(no offence intended);steam does regular "checks" to bork nonsteam files..the point I am making is we want full support,I already miss CW dlc....

I meant, copy your HOI3 folder from steam and apply the patch to the copy. Steam can't check what you are doing with external stuff.

Hi this is my last attemp at getting to play D.I.G.. I have tried both methods suggested by devildread for a steam game but I either get a standard S.F. game or the rather odd note saying " H.O.I. is not available at this time please try later". Is there anybody out there that tell me what I am doing wrong!!!!!.
P.S. I am using win7 ult. and have reinstalled twice.

I love that you say its so easy it only takes 5 weeks! LOL, That's the exact amount of time it took in real life and thats the point. This mod is more historical. The challenge will be in the USSR and North Africa. Italy is weakened so the player has to get involved in Africa.

It takes 5 weeks because I choose the event for 500MP. Also it takes that long due to Belgium units and not French units. If I take out Netherlands and position troops on Belgium border before I DOW them I can be in Paris in just 3 weeks tops.

Can you upload a savegame at the start of 1940 (or around that date) please? I need some figures in order to adapt the balance.

The point is to make it easy, but not too easy. You should have some fun before 1941 otherwise the game is boring IMO.

I will upload a saved game tonight to the bugreports forum. I attack France in late August early September 1939 right after Poland. I usually attack Poland around July 15th after my troops are mobilized (starting with acceptance of MR pact).

What happens if you reseach an operation after you have DOWed the nation it pertains to? No effect or you simply get the effect later on?

Make sure that u tell steam to not automaticly update for HOI3 (sometimes it will mess with it). I have had problems with the auto update with HOI before with steam (when using a patch or mod that isn't suported by steam). Also steam seems to reset autoupdate back to on everytime i shut down my computer so u will need to check that.

I have no idea whats going wrong with that i am using a steam version and having no problems (using any of the patches). Try deleting everything todo with HOI3 in your steam dir and redownloading.
EDIT: Not just the HOI folder but the other files in your steam dir aswell!

By the way, has anyone else noted the longer range uboats get longer beards than their coastal counterparts? Is beard length a factor of operational range... makes some sense in an odd sort of way.

The long range subs stayed out for very long periods of time, and since water and shaving creams became scarce and often had to be rationed, it made sense to not shave so often.

My invasion of the Low Countries and France was hard enough, took me until ~August to get Paris. I started near the historical date. Although some of the slowness is definitely due to my inexperience, thus making some mistakes.

Unfortunately Italy kicked UK out of Egypt (June 1941), just as I had a small DAK force ready.

Edit: the reason why Italy was so successfull seems to be my submarines; I loaded the save as the UK, and they had zero convoys, and almost all of their divisions outside Britain were at zero org..

I use the steam version and have had no problems playing CW and DIG. Here's what I do.

Copy the entire HOI3 folder from wherever steam installed it on your computer to anywhere you like (I copy it to the desktop because its easier to use that way). Apply all patches, mods, etc to the new folder you just created. The mods go into the "mods" folder inside the HOI3 folder. Once they are installed you run the game using the hoi3.exe file located inside the HOI3 folder (I create a shortcut on the desktop to that file, again makes things easier) (DO NOT USE STEAM TO LAUNCH THE GAME). A small screen then pops up. From the drop down menu select the mod you want to play and then click the "Start HOI3" button.

I've tried to make these instructions as simple as possible. I hope they help you.

Quick update from someone still fighting on the 1.01 front (cba to completely redo all the work I did so far).

Started Barbarossa with a little less troops than I should, but hey, my Panzers are invincible, right, what could possibly go wrong?

It's mid september and I am absolutely nowhere at this time, stuck 3-4 provinces into the Russian border, Baltic offensive going nowhere and my brave hungarian and romanian allies that decided to open up a front for me in the south are now getting rammed back already, hard.

In other disturbing news, the Finns have very little left that resembles an army and the Soviets decided that the right course of action to take against them is to send at least (from what I've encountered, so far) 7 Armoured divisions and assorted small stuff. Holy F&%$.

I added a new thread in the bugreports that contains my saved game where I think the French units are too few. They seem to be building the right troops but only have about 50 divisions or so in all of France.

Excellent question. I'd like to know that along with researching something but never attacking the country it is associated with. For example, if I researched the one to attack Switzerland but never DOW'd the Swiss, I would expect NOT to get the bonuses from that tech.

Sorry didn't see your first post.

The operational planning feature is exactly that: operational planning.
That means if you research the tech you have obviously the bonuses displaying in the tech screen and you have from the day you have tech to one year after the historical date to launch the invasion.
If you don't launch the invasion, the decision bonus (manpower/others) are lost, as the army put its emphasis on another operation (all this is a fully abstracted approach) but the tech bonuses are still on.

The Weserubung operation for instance can be researched anytime, even in 1945 if you want to invade USA and look for some extra transportation. You won't have a USA war decision but the transport capacity will be increased in your ships.

cw is a dlc not a mod,kallocain said to avoid mixing a steamgame with a gamersgatedlc,where did you buy cw ?
