I think you need to work on the english convoys. In the start of 42 I've sunk every british convoy whit only 20 uboats operating in 10 groups. They are building enough convoys (600 atm) I just sink them to fast and the most damage I've got on my subs is about 12% damage.

its come to the point where I've taken all my subs back to let them get supplies out to their other fronts where they started to loose badly, even the italians have pushed them back after the british took most of the italian lands in africa.

How to fix it I dont know but maybe an event from time to time after the US joins the war that gives them xxx number of convoys/escorts as a temp. fix or something ?

Edit: Just did a fast count and each group have sunk around 50 convoys on avarege and thats not counting the italian subs you get in an event so thats easily 6-700 convoys in just under 2 years

Hi Devildread and Danevang,
first of all let me congratulate for a job well done.

While I was updating my mod with a special Dies Irae version I also tried to improve one of the few things that I felt could be improved in DI... soldier faces.

I have done some tweaks and added a few details to ensure the faces look more natural and a little lesser plastic. It's just minor tweaking... I didn't want to go overboard or the faces would have looked wrong compared to the uniform.


This is how they look with my tweaks (right) compared to how they look in DI (left)


Full soldier view ... zoomed out the changes are less evident but still noticiable:


As you can see the difference isn't huge but the goal was to do just minor tweaks to avoid the plastic doll look.

Now... maybe you don't like the changes, but if you do I can easily hand to you the tweaked models once finished if you want to include them in the next DI patch.
If not... I will just provide them as a separate download.

The plastic look is just the green recruits isn't it? As I recall their faces become more textured and realistic at the later exp levels. Did you change those as well? This looks great!

I know the faces get more details like dirt the more experience the unit has... but still the recruits shouldn't look like plastic dolls, my tweaked faces while still looking young and clean are more natural, at least this is what I think:




I'm still experimenting and haven't actually tested it but if the more experience = more details thing works the way I think (the additional details get pasted over the base soldier image) it should work fine over the new base face too.

I really liked the way your soldiers get more rugged machismo as they gain experience. rawr...

By the way, has anyone else noted the longer range uboats get longer beards than their coastal counterparts? Is beard length a factor of operational range... makes some sense in an odd sort of way.

The patch doesn't seem to be working for me, and I copied the files and overwrote the old ones; no assault gun and i don't see the "the submarine positionning or morale tech."

I'm pre-Barbarossa in my current DI:G 1.02 (plus the VWP submod). It seemes you increased army experience gain. A good move but maybe a little too far. Anyway, its good to see some units getting decorated when they have been involved in all the major sieges in the first campaigns of the war. I think you doubled air experience gain but it still seems too slow: none of my air units or leaders have gained even a single level after 6 months of continuous operations.

Did you somehow do something to the direction of the Royal Navy? It keeps patrolling the English Channel with two mixed Carrier/Battleship/Escort fleets, and some Cruiser/Escort fleets. It is making it very tricky to lodge and support a force!

My air war has not gone well, with most of my INT and TAC groups geting badly mauled. I've got 5 x 3 INT groups, 3 x 4 MR groups and 6 x 3 TAC groups but they have only had a marginal effect on battles to date (oter than minimising STR bombing).

It feels good but the main event is still to come.

Me too. Also it seems that the sturmgeschutz only recieves the malus and not the attack bonus from researching Med. Tank gun.

Same here, my fighter and bomber air fleets keep getting damaged very fast, I had to keep them grounded most of the time during the attack on France. And at the same time British, French and other allied planes were butchering my soldiers :(

Is there an event for the second Vienna award? I'm already on March -41 and didn't get any. Although Hungary did join the Axis pretty fast if that has some effect. Also Bulgaria hasn't gotten South Dobruja.

Will I be given the chance to create Croatia? I've just conquered Yugoslavia, and would gladly get rid of some of the extra territory.

Hello!

Does anyone know a way to change the default unit name (from 1st, 2nd Mot Brigade to Grenadier-Regiment 1, 2 or 1st Mtn Brigade to Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 1) ? So you don't have to edit every single brigade/regiment or abteilung when it comes off the production line.

I have Hearts of Iron 3 + Semper Fi (with patch 2.04F) + Dies Irae: Götterdämmerung, but I want to know if I can do this in Hearts of Iron 3 + Semper Fi (with patch 2.04D) + DiDay's I.C.E. 3.3.3.

What happens if you reseach an operation after you have DOWed the nation it pertains to? No effect or you simply get the effect later on?

guys, when do you think there will be a german language-patch?! right now its nonsense to play "DI - Götterdämmerung" as all events i ve encountered so far were broken (no titel, no description, no nothing!). is there a way to start the english-version via HOI.exe?! within steam i am able to change the languages, but steam doesnt start "DI - Götterdämmerung".

Your installation is messed up. Not a problem for the vast majority of people. And those that did have issues finally installed it without problems and things worked for them.

I don't think this is an issue, he is playing in German language and there is no localisation for it. You have to play in english.

Check the HOI3 folder, open settings.txt and replace:

Devildread, France is WAY too easy because France doesn't build troops anymore. Last night I built a level 10 radar right next to the french border to see the troops they have. They barely had more theen the Belgiums did. The Maginot line only had one division in each province and most of those only had two brigades (one tank one infantry).

Against Italy they also only had one division per border province. There were another 10-15 divisions (had to tell exactly since some are only two brigades) waiting to go into Belgium. This is way less than before. Unless they shipped troops to NA and elsewhere the AI for France is just not building land units anymore.

The only thing that causes any difficulty is selecting the DOW against the low countries for the 500MP. If I did my normal strategy of DOW Netherlands only and then putting armor along the coast they would have no chance. The woods and forests near Luxembourg and Metz slow me down more than the enemy does. Heck the Belgiums put up a tougher fight.

I know you did some things to make it easier for Germany to defeat France but I think you should reverse that. Yes the fight takes about 5 weeks but its too easy overall. I outnumber the French and can take out the Maginot line even before I force a breakthrough further to the west.

I love that you say its so easy it only takes 5 weeks! LOL, That's the exact amount of time it took in real life and thats the point. This mod is more historical. The challenge will be in the USSR and North Africa. Italy is weakened so the player has to get involved in Africa.

The point is to make it easy, but not too easy. You should have some fun before 1941 otherwise the game is boring IMO. :)

IMHO, it should not be so easy. After all, the crushing defeat in such a short time was not only because of superior german tactics, but also because of major blunts on part of french high command. Historical major blunts is something that should not be modelled into the game. We already have the Ai for that.
