I have finnaly taken the courage it needs to write an AAR of my own. After reading so many great AAR's it figured it was time for me to join in.

Anyway, country's going to be Armenia, released from Ak Koyonlu in 1419. Settings vhard/furios, vanilla GC 1.07. Goal? To screw around a little in the middle east. :D

And yes, don't expect some grand style writing or something, this is my first AAR, so have patience folks :)

first installment will probably be tonight or tomorrow.

Ah nice to see you here as a writer too.

Armenia? That is not an easy country to play exactly but I always like a challenge so I will be reading closely. I really like the title, a title to my taste :D

Are you goint to "roleplay" certain parts of the game, such as armenians taking over former turkish lands again (culture, religious change) etc? Claim the mantle of the Byzantine Empire? :D

Chapter one : The first years.

In the year of our lord 1419 Armenia declared independence from the Moslem oppresors in Ak Koyonlu. The man who led the upprising against those infidels was Stratioticus( from now on known as Strat). Strat was a wery Orthodox man, acctually he as a bit of extreme, and he hated Moslems. It didn't matter if they where Turks or Arabs, In his eyes they where all Infidels who should stay in the hell they came from. His biggest dream was to liberate Jerusalem and "Cleanse it from evil", as he once said.

His first orders as King of Armenia was to cancell the tribute system (Cancell Vassalisation) that Armenia had to the infidels to the south, and it is said that he uttered this words when he sent the note to Ak Koyonlu:

"I shall pay no fee to the servants of the devil, but let uss fool them like the devil does to us! Let us allie with them, and use their influence in the south!"

Strat entered a military alliance together with Ak Koyonlu. When Strat heard that the infidels had accepted his invetation, he fell into a hysterical laughter."Good!" he jelled, "Good! Those infidels are even more stupid then i tought, now, let us prepare for operation Moorak!"

Operation Moorak was the grand strategic expansion plan of Armenia. It had been worked out over a Century ago By the military masterminds of Armenia, for the time when Armenia would be independent again. The plan was based on conquering rich territory, and only annexing what you needed. The first step in the plan was to take Trebizond. Altough it was a Orthodox brother, it had to be attacked. Strat, as the true paranoid man he was, fully belived that Trebizond was realy controlled by a Moslem shadow-king, who ruled trebizond with the true king as a puppet.

So, Strat took a loan (We took a loan) raised 6000 Cavalary units from his faithfull citizens, and on the 9th April 1420, Armenia "Declared war on Trebizond and their ally Byzantinum".

Ak Koyonlu honored the military alliance (Strat shouted about "Those phatetic fools!" when the white sheeps joined in the war) and so, the war began.

The "Armenia regiment" under Zacharias (hearby known as Zac) attacked Trebizond, and defeated the Trebizond army with ease. The siege lasted a few months, totaly with out Byzantine interference, and on new years eave 1420, Trabzon fell. Strat annexed it immideatly ( With a great hysterical laughter, of course).

The Byzantines then demanded 25 ducats for peace wich Strat didn't want to pay, but hes advisors made him.

Strat spent a couple of years paying back loans, Honoring his Military alliance but not fighting a single battle, reforming (+1 Centralization) and promoting ballifs.

And when everything was peacefull and nice, at 1 August 1421, when Strat had acctually started to turn down his paranoid self a little bit, the Golden Horde Declared war! .

Strat reacted with a "WHAT WAS IT I SAID! I KNEW THOSE BLOODY INFIDELS WOULD ATTACK, I KNEW IT!" , wich acctualy was a pretty calm answer to the note that the Stepp lords had sent.

The Khan how ever seemed to be in another world or something, though he did not lift a finger to fight the war with Armenia. Instead Zac lead the "Armenia Regiment" into Daghestan, and after a short siege, he captured that province. Still nothing from the Khan. So Zac moved on to the rich Trade center of Astrakhan, and after some losses during the winter, it also fell. And not a single army of the Khan was spotted.

And then, all suddenly, after a long war (Strat was going mad about that the Khan never accpeted peace!) the Goverment of the Golden Horde fell! (No shit? That was unexpected... ) And Astrakhan and Daghestan was ceded to Armenia. Strat how ever had hard to be glad about that, as he only saw more potential enemies to Armenia with owning a Center of Trade.

So, Strat began to plan the next campaign. His own words when he was asked about why: "Well, we have to attack! If we don't attack them, they will hit us!"

Very nice starting, R.F.A! I like it!

A good host? I host them at Yahoo!Geocities. It also has an intuitive interface to work. The only "drawback" is that they don't allow images to be seen from "outside", but you can easily counter that by renaming your .JPG files into .TXT after uploading them. This is what I do with the screenshots of my AARs.

BTW, can Armenia become Byzantium? Well, if not, I suggest you to work the event files to do so if you want, as you are meaning to, to become the Byzantine Empire.

R.F.A a very, very entertaining opening, really nice.

Strat is doing fine and I really love the Americanised name “Strat”.

What a successful campaign, Trebizond + Astrakhan and Daghestan, wow! I think it was a good move to ally with the “slightly better” infidels in Ak Koyunlu. They could provide help against the really evil infidels, the Ottomans and +the Mameluks. When Strat has no more need for them he can send them to hell too.

Did my Kingdom AAR inspire the name?, hm I am really honoured:) . Pictures would be nice but unfortunately I can´t offer you any help because my free space is very limited so I have problems already with my own pictures.

Sure you hasn’t some small space offered by your internet provider?

Keep up the good work, thrash all infidels, God wills it!
:D

the Commie bastard AKA Nikbucharin - heh, a little ;)

R.F.A thanks! :)

As for spelling: I am not a native speaker and I like to write fast. To minimize my errors I run a spell check in "word" before I post. Always some mistakes that you detect that way. Looking forward to your next update:D

R.F.A, thank you!

I think you can follow up my own example. I'm Brazilian, never got out of my country, but I'm learning A LOT of English by writting my AARs (and reading others:D ). By training you improve your writing skills very much.

As you want to take the byzantine mantle, why don't you edit your event files allowing you to become Byzantium if you own Thrace? I think there are several threads discussing how to create an event allowing you to "become" a country. Anyway... I'm here reading you!

Yes. Nice screenie btw!

Please, convert it to .JPG in order to dramatically reduce its size. It took me near one minute to load!
