That a Japanese pilot just taken of from his aircraft carrier spotted a submarine launched torpedo heading towards it and dove straight into the torpedo thus sacrificing himself to prevent the torpedo from hitting the carrier.

34: Did you know? The Ossola valley in the northern Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola was declared a independent anti-Fascist Republic by Partisans for a few weeks in 1944. It was officially recognised by Switzerland and by Allied Consulates in Switzerland before the Germans crushed it.

Did you know that a German officer in North Africa who transmitted a message in code most days, saying "nothing to report", was very important to the British code-breakers. He gave them a before and after coding message, that helped them work out that days settings on the enigma machines. The British knew to look out for any message containing the correct number of letters coming from the area he was stationed.

A Korean by the name of Yang Kyoungjong fought in the Imperial Japanese Army, the Soviet Red Army, and the German Wehrmacht?
In 1938, at the age of 18, Yang was in Manchuria when he was conscripted into the Kwantung Army of the Imperial Japanese Army to fight against the Soviet Union. During the Battles of Khalkhin Gol, he was captured by the Red Army and sent to a labour camp.
Because of the manpower shortages faced by the Soviets in their fight against Nazi Germany, in 1942 he was pressed into fighting for the Red Army along with thousands of other prisoners, and was sent to the Eastern Front.
In 1943, he was captured by Wehrmacht soldiers in Ukraine during the Third Battle of Kharkov, and was then pressed into fighting for Germany. Yang was sent to Occupied France to fight in a battalion of Soviet POW's known as the "Eastern Battalion", located on the Cotentin peninsula in Normandy, close to Utah Beach.
After the D-Day landings, Yang was captured by paratroopers of the United States Army in June 1944. The Americans initially believed him to be Japanese in German uniform, and he was placed in a prisoner-of-war camp in the United Kingdom.
Yang later emigrated to the United States, where he lived until his death in 1992.
