Did you know that if you placed a lot of trees your self you could start a forestry industry on the spot where you planted trees, and not have to use the spots on the map that have high concentrations of trees?

Here is a short video explaining that from yours truly

Yup. Trees are trees.

You don't even need trees to put down forestries - They'll just import logs from abroad and cut those those. (Same with every special industry)

I'm at work so I can't watch your video, but what I want to know is do you zone the industry ONTOP of the forest (like ore and oil) or next to it? And if it's next too it, do the trees need to be covered by the district too? I would think zoning on top of the trees would just kill them.

You zone the industry on top of the trees, you make a district out of it, chose forestry specialization, and then the buildings that go up will change the trees to serveral types of buildings. Some will be tree growing, some cutting like lumber mills. The ones that grow trees have their own design for trees.

I was kinda wondering about this. I noticed that placing trees created new forestry resource areas.

What effect does the color intensity have on the industry that develops there? Do farms grow more of the resource if the color is darker?

This is pretty cool.

My biggest issue is with the ore/oil, though. It seems unrealistic that a zone will be depleted in just a few months. I'm still waiting for a mod that makes them infinite.

Yes that's it exactly. It really does seem that the darker the resource patch, the more likely you are to get a resoruce production building as opposed to a resource processing building.

I was thinking that graveyards and crematoriums could be modded, such that they turn normal land into farmland after a period. Also, crematoriums should generate electricity.
Nice....I am seeing a Soylent Green theme.
XD are you crazy, burning people for electricity.... "its people"

Just reroute your waste water output from the river to your desired field. :p Might want to keep people away for a few days though.
That would make a lot more sense. It would certaintly be cool if farms develop better around rivers.

Yup, it seems the more abundant the resource the more likely a production facility (extraction) will be placed instead of a processing facility, but its seems they can appear everywhere.
Yup, I've place a small industry for my only oil patch in the map (one really dark) I didn't even notice and it went completely away before I could check it, but it also seems extraction buildings remain there and continue to work.
I any case, you really only need a small portion of specialized industry to supply your main industry.
