Recently I rediscovered EU on my harddisk
I played Austria IGC. It was around 1570.
After converting to Counterreformed Catholic I started a war against (protestant) Thuringen and Wurtemburg. Within a month Brandenburg (+ Venice ) and France (+ Poland) declared war to me.
For several months I was busy burning down Thuringen, Wurtemburg, Berlin en Champagne.
I totally overlooked my southern neighbour.... But when I looked south again
I saw the Venetians already captured Bosnia and Carnolia. Now they
were sieging Styria ! When I looked at the siege-screen I saw a plus seven
(!!) siege value. My first thought: my god, is this a bug ?
I sent a 40K army to lift the siege but was beaten back. My second army
(35K) was also beaten back... Styria had fallen now. The Venetians
marched to Vienna.. The walls of Vienna melted like snow in the sun. With a
new 30K Austrian army I attacked the Venetians and finally saved Vienna. I
hunted the Venetians down all the way to Bosnia where the remnants of the
Venetian army were smashed.
The name of the Venetian general was: Bragadin. I looked up his
statistics: 4-4-4 !! Strong on the battlefield, lethal when sieging. He can capture a level 2 fortress (in mountains) within two months ! To bad he wasn't austrian !
