Indeed, you never ask women about their age or weight, and you never ask a salesman about his discount and profit margin.
I would think its more marketing problem that legal one. If the game sell poorly after release and company reports this, game gets bad reputation of being suck and never starts to sell any better. People dont buy it because the game might not get patches, etc. If they dont report sales, it might pick up after while.

Might be a bit of reverse psychology going on - they think if we love a game but are worried its not selling enough, we're more likely to ask our friends and/or family to buy it too then if we are complacent because we know the game is making a profit for the company :rofl:
Given the fact that Paradox's privately owned, I see no actual legal issue in publishing sales figures. But they have a policy not to do so, I guess.

I pre-ordered from Amazon and they've emailed me this morning to tell me they've sold out and it'll be delayed. So, of course I've cancelled the order and bought on gamersgate instead (just in time to get the pre-order bonus).

I don't know sales numbers or anything like that. What I do know is that looking round the internet we got some good feedback from the demo, so let's hope that bodes well.
