I asked about pre release sales the other day and didn't get an answer. I'm interested in knowing. It seems like things are going well.

Wasn't that the whole point of shaving his head? If it didn't break even why would he honor the bet?
I'm curious as well. I don't expect sales numbers or anything, I just want to hear that the excitement we've got around here is translating into real success at Paradox. The game looks amazing.
V2 forum has reached 1/4th the number of threads, and about 80% of the posts, that the Rome forum has, in a much shorter period of time, so I'd say there is enough of a following to assume profitable sales.
I can all but guarantee that Paradox won't give you much more than that, though. There are a lot of legal sticky points about giving out info like that.

From what I understand, Frederick shaved his head because brick and mortar stores ordered so many copies that the break-even point was reached even before the game became available for digital download (pre-orders). Of course, I could just be repeating a rumour, but iirc it was a mod who told me.
Not only that, but I think it's kind of private information...sort of like asking somebody how much they make in a year. Some people don't like sharing such info.
the main reason im curious is, they said they would never make a Victoria 2 based on poor sales. I think allot of people are thinking along the same lines of if Victoria is indeed going to be a extinct entity or has there been life breathed into it?

They could just let us know if Vicky 2 has done well or not, no need for figures or anything

Of course, it may be public by law in some countries (figures for taxable incomes are public information by law in Finland).
For companies at least, you can always wait until the end of the fiscal year and see what they report on their financial status as a whole (forget what the English term is).

Yeah they are a niche company and they're never going to get the exciting numbers that the Blizzards of this world do. Clearly they are at least marginally profitable though because they are still making games, and great ones at that.
