Did really Mariina confirmed at Quill's Twitch that they will not add multiplayer?

Multiplayer in five easy steps:

1. Invite people to your house
2. Put the kettle on.
3. Give them a chair.
4. Play.
5. Talk to each other.

Extra bonus points if you wear ties and take meeting minutes every time you decide what to build.

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking. This game will be multi-player in my house the minute I open it on my computer and say to my kids, "Hey, come take a look at this..."

The question is what would be the porpouse of a Multiplayer in this game? In Simcity 5 it was based on the small maps that you could not built everything in one map cause of the limited space and you could built a big project building that needed a lot of diffrent resources. I don't see any of this in Skylines. So why a Multiplayer?

No to Multiplayer.

Unless there is a massive demand for it I wouldn't want the devs to waste valuable resources on it.

And by Massive I'm meaning more than 40% of the Player Base, not a few posters on Steam or here.

I approve, but to be honest when I have friends around we play boardgames.

Sometimes it's good to get away from the computer and play with something physical.

Multiplayer is not a bad idea if You can link Your cities with each other and do trade and exchange stuff. But more in some kind of persistant universe maybe.
Its a feature I like in Cities XXL...doing trade between cities.

People think "multiplayer" = simcity

there is many aspects of multiplayer, not like adding someone to the region but try to get the ideas! think!
look at cities xl, they did just one little thing about multiplayer that was kind of cool after they actually fall off their first cities xl with monthly fees. They took their ideas to put it back into cities xl 2012 with the planet where you can actually choose your spot without going online!!
Multiplayer could be sporadic such as statistical data, or visual interpretation, to make you say "oh, my friend is in this continent, i can trade with him and make plane routes or ships route (transport tycoon fan here)
you don't need to add a "full multiplayer experience" you can just add a little tweak that will give you the sensation of having a cities among others. not like having a city on a squary map with no sight or whatsoever beyond it.
that is what cities xl succeded to do. you got your 10x10 km square, and then you can see the earth with your city on it, and say "oh great i can trade with "best friend city over there while im in there in the tropics"

Also "multiplayer" coud be ranged in one aspect, trade with the city you construct yourself! a feature which doesn't seem this game have!
it's like if you construct two cities, even in single player it would have been nice to trade with one another without going multi!! just this kind of idea people don't have! wouldn't have been nice to make cities yourself and trade tourism? oil? and stuffs?? you don't even scratch that idea!

i agree to have a solid base game, but i disagree of not pursueing the idea of something that can make a game enjoyable if it's thought right, and you guys have no imagination. (but maybe it's because im a game dev myself that i think beyond that, whatever...so let's keep the "lambda" idea, and be dumb to just stop at a sufficient level when you can reach higher layers.)

You guys don't get it about the multiplayer aspects.
People think "multiplayer" = simcity

When I think multi-player I think "other people"

And I generally hate other people ;)

Also I don't think you'll win many people over with your tone, people who disagree with your view are not "sheep" they are people who disagree with you. Just thought this was worth mentioning.

With all due respect, in my view that's not 'multiplayer', but rather the regional play a la SC4. Now yes, if you had regional play you could theoretically open that up to a quasi-multiplayer experience such as inter-city trading, however as the C:S design appears to be based around individual cities rather regional play I don't think people are being 'narrow-minded' by discounting such a possibility.
