Did Hearts of Iron IV get its bid for beta Accepted?

To give you an honest answer: it isn't too much! And I'll explain you, why. The last time pdx did this was the release date disaster, where they didn't say anything, that Q2 2015 won't be met, until Q2 was almost over. No word, that they still were in (pre-)alpha or anything. When this happened, many people here complained. But not, because they wanted to take their time. No! It was because the lack of infos and because they kept us so long in the dark. I even watched a video from gamereactor (iirc) some days before this, where podcat didn't say, that Q2 would be impossible.

Should pdx take their time for the game? Of course they should! Does it bother me to wait until the release? A bit, bit it's ok, if i get a cool game. Do i like it, to be kept in the dark, that Beta didn't even happen! No!!! For me it is the worst thing, that i thought, that the game left alpha behind. And this is the 2nd time, that pdx didn't say anything until it was nearly too late. Sorry, but if they keep these infos back, they shatter my trust. And i call it by it's name.

Don't get me wrong. I love pdx and because of this, i am more patient with them, than i've ever been with other companies. And i support them since hoi2 and tell every friend i know, that they should buy their games too, because they are just great. But what they really lack is a good information policy. And this bothers me a lot at the moment. And so they gambled with my confidence and lost it...again...

I think you take this thing too seriously.
Just chill out and wait for the game. It will be ready when it's ready.

+1 to this, it'll be ready when it's ready. I'm mad keen for it, but I'd rather have it solid at launch. I also don't want Johan, Podcat and the team to make themselves crook working crazy hours to get it finished (although hopefully Sweden's labour arrangements make that less likely).

Every extra day they develop the game their profit margin is shrinking. I bet there are some people in the company pressuring them already. No need for extra pressure I assume.

Every extra day now could be an extra day less later + better customer relations for a better release.

A large difference between the two things that are wanted, I and some others who mentioned it in this thread do not want the game rushed, but we want to be kept in the loop. As it was mentioned we didn't know the previous release date wouldn't be met until last minute and they did an information black out during that period remaining VERY inactive in the forums when it was going on.

Waiting is not the problem. If it is Q2 or Q3...fine by me. But i see a slight difference between "welcome to the dd! Btw it's not Beta and now let's see carrier warfare" and "Today our Beta got rejected. Don't worry, we're already working hard on this."

My critizism is on the information policy only and not on the delays...just to make it clear again...

Edit: and you can't argue zaku, that their information policy really needs to be improved...

So what's your point? We get weekly let's plays and weekly DDs, it's not like the devs are not communicating with the fans.

And no one is complaining about the dds and videos. In the contrary: i am very thankful, that they take time for this. But it is only info about gameplay. What i would like to see, would be more info about development. This topic lacks a lot of infos...sry...

My point is we didn't know it wouldn't meet the last estimated release date until last minute when we basically already passed it and they not only didn't tell us anything but avoided doing so.

My point is these dev diaries while giving very small amounts of information here and there, they are no where near as informative as the ones that came monthly, a little status update on the progress on this game that's already been delayed over a year at this point would be appreciated.

And again: it is not the release date! It is development info in general. Honest infos about game development are far better, than keeping everyone speculating. If Beta gets rejected several times and the people know it, then nobody will suffer from unmet expectations and disappointed hopes. Truth would be a bitter pill, yes. But far worse is saying nothing at all. I don't want detailed reports about development every week. But i want, that important infos are shared from time to time...that's all. No release date, no estimates, just some infos on the actual status...is that too much???

He hasn't complained at all about the beta getting rejected actually. His only complaint is lack of information.
