Did Hearts of Iron IV get its bid for beta Accepted?

It was mentioned in the previous developer diary that the bid for beta was denied because of the build being "too slow" and that the tutorial was not yet completed. It was also told by Johan that the bid for a new beta was to be submitted today and that the team was crunching all weekend to get it passed. As a side note once the beta is accepted we are according to Johan a few months from release, so knowing this would give us not a specific release date but at least an estimate.

So the big question, was the bid accepted?

in december we'll be in beta *knocks on wood*, which is just bugfixing and balancing until we are ready to release. so a few months post that.

And this would be a disaster for me...it's not like i could wait patiently for the game. But i was really sure, that the game hit the Beta in mid-november. And yet, paradox hasn't learned from the release date disaster, where everyone was expecting a Q2 release and they kept the infos back. Now we got the same thing, where everyone was expecting the game to be in beta and still the held the info about the beta rejection back. With all due respects pdx: please work on your information policy. I really feel like i had a carrot in front of my face, which got pulled back again...

Sounds reasonable! But since we've been kept in the dark with the status of beta until the last dd, which i - with all respects - think was not fair at all towards the community, my confidence in pdx has been shattered again...

But let's hope you're right and that i am wrong with my assumption, that a Q1 release is off the table...

To be fair. The more they answer the questions about how far along they are, the more questions AND complaints they will get and be expected to answer.

To say you lost confidence in them because they didnt tell you earlier that "they Haven't submited the bid for beta" is a bit to much

I'd say Q2 2016 is more realistic than Q1 2016

It's xmas, so there will be a few weeks where (almost) nobody will be at work. I guess, they are trying to ship beta before the holidays, so they can enjoy their free time. They probably will be on full work schedule early/mid january. To get a Q1 release, they only got 2,5 months. I doubt it is possible to release Q1.

Johan said, it will be 3 months after beta. I'd say it's more like 4 months, given all the delays we already saw with this game. So let's be generous and give them 100% work at January 15th (holidays, vacations etc.) and add 3 to 4 months. That means it's a release in April or May.

Edit No 8.923: This is meant to be a best case scenario, if nothing goes wrong. I don't think Q3 is impossible.

To give you an honest answer: it isn't too much! And I'll explain you, why. The last time pdx did this was the release date disaster, where they didn't say anything, that Q2 2015 won't be met, until Q2 was almost over. No word, that they still were in (pre-)alpha or anything. When this happened, many people here complained. But not, because they wanted to take their time. No! It was because the lack of infos and because they kept us so long in the dark. I even watched a video from gamereactor (iirc) some days before this, where podcat didn't say, that Q2 would be impossible.

Should pdx take their time for the game? Of course they should! Does it bother me to wait until the release? A bit, bit it's ok, if i get a cool game. Do i like it, to be kept in the dark, that Beta didn't even happen! No!!! For me it is the worst thing, that i thought, that the game left alpha behind. And this is the 2nd time, that pdx didn't say anything until it was nearly too late. Sorry, but if they keep these infos back, they shatter my trust. And i call it by it's name.

Don't get me wrong. I love pdx and because of this, i am more patient with them, than i've ever been with other companies. And i support them since hoi2 and tell every friend i know, that they should buy their games too, because they are just great. But what they really lack is a good information policy. And this bothers me a lot at the moment. And so they gambled with my confidence and lost it...again...
