What's the deal with dice rolls? Are they intentionally skewed somehow? The AI in my games always consistently rolls 6-7-8-9's on their rolls, while I'm lucky to get anything above a 4. Consequently, my armies easily get trashed by equal size or smaller enemy (AI) armies. I realize that terrain modifiers affect the outcome, but mind you the supposedly random "dice roll" itself is rolling 6+'s... from what I can ascertain from similar questions posted on other forums, the dice generator is random, representing "luck". Now, with the AI consistently scoring higher than a player, I feel that something else is at play here, either with how the random number generator was coded, or something else influencing it. For the record, after I get bored after a while, I turn on cheats. Could the AI's high rolls be a "penalty" for using cheats? And why would the developer penalize someone for that? My late game becomes completely unplayable due to this. Whether it be a "bug" or a "feature".

in everything it seems like the opponent does better than you and have more luck, you just dont notice it enough when you have luck. try writing all of the dice scores on five battles and see if its rly the case

I get this a lot and it has happened so often that i now take note when i roll high.
I think i am just unlucky which can happen.
Easiest solution is just to doomstack every enemy stack you come across.

Well doomstacks are not much of help. You can flank with max 4 units, so you should just have 4 more units than the enemy (but keep a support stack in border so you can allways bring reinforcements). Also it helps if you got good general if you can, and better units. The least of importance is discipline(but it is still helpfull to have it high). Very important if you don't have hundreds of thousands soliders, is morale, as it allows your armies to fight longer. Very important, wherever you fight on your ground or enemy fields, is your reinforcement rate(which you gain from going quantity and hiring a quatermaster, plus austria got a decision that increase it - and in your ground you gain better reinforcement than on enemy lands, occupied provinces, forgein provinces, and allied countries territory), and support limit(which if you exceed it brings up attrition, that kills your armies without even fighting, which is often used by countries like russia to their advantage - like using scorched earth tactic, or just using winter to stop the enemy expansion).

So even if you are unlucky with dices (which is possible - actualy you can have 90% times 0 dice when your enemy gets 9 50% of the time - but highly unlikely), there are much more means to win a war. You need to remember what sun-tzu said :
"A good leader siezes a victory, and then starts a battle, a bad leader starts a battle, and then seeks for victory"

Or something like that.

AND what the hell mean Skewed?

Well, for one, the human brain is hardwired to remember bad results far more often than the good ones. Generally the dice rolls are legit except when it comes to lucky nations who are.. lucky. The dice rolls are the reason I usually play with no lucky nations.

Shouldn't dice rolls be always random, even with lucky nations? They get +1 leader shock and fire but dice rolls shouldn't be affected IMO.
Does that mean AI gets better rolls on Hard/Very hard difficulties as well?

I agree, giving modifiers to lucky nations is far better than messing with dice rolls. And no, difficulty does not change dice rolls (afaik).

The main thing to realise more a is that as the player you normally play safe as just cakewalking battles with lots of good troops, while the AI is normally outdone by players and ends up facing close or very hard to win battles which they can then sometimes win. Basically AI takes risk and they sometimes pay off while players don't

I mean I played as France, which as I understand it is a "lucky nation" within the terms of the game's predefined setup. I even cheated (lol) to get 100% army tradition, to see if it were the generals that were causing the problem. Same issues though, my stacks just get rolled up by equivalent enemy stacks. I had 20+ units sitting on London, and the British roll in with a similarly sized stack. Mind you, they're attacking me. as soon as the battle starts, I'm losing 1500+ units every tick, and they're losing maybe 40. Then, I get a high roll, and the Brits are only losing 40-50 units while I'm losing none in comparison. This makes no sense.

To OP it sounds like you are doing something fatally wrong when you are playing. Forgetting maintenance, being extremely far behind in land tech, something of that magnitude. In a normal game under normal circumstances you will not have an enemy killing 1500 of your troops in one day while you do 50 casualties in one day when you get a superiour roll.

Heh, this reminds me of the threads that get started on civilisation forums about the AI being incredibly bias against the human player. What it comes down to is the times it's in your favour you don't remember but the times it isn't, you do remember giving the impression that it's bias against you

Actually at least the Civ 5 AI is extremely biased against the player, for example even if they are "neutral" towards you they will ask for ridiculous things when you are trying to trade with them and they will never acknowledge that they are expanding in "your" land (when you tell them not to), while every time the player makes a city remotely near theirs they will immediately demand that you never settle near them again. These are just two things, there are of course more. For example wanting to have a research agreement will often have them asking for 100 extra money from you, or even more, and wanting to trade surplus luxury goods will often have them demand more even if both parties would be equally benefitted from the deal.

The Civ AI is ridiculous, it's not a matter of remembering only the bad times.

Like I was saying, that's the weird thing. So far as I can tell, I'm not doing anything wrong. I've got maintenance all the way up, I try and set my sliders towards quality, I even have terrain advantages. My land tech is on par with theirs, I use the same units. My discipline is at 106, which I don't think is too bad. I don't have any idea what the issue is.
