Timothy Ortiz: who's leading the CSA army beseiging Washington? --no one yet. Check the USA rollover in the screenie and you'll see (Burnside) beside one of the units. Vic has the same HOI feature of showing who is the leader in rollovers.
Quercus: why were the US Dragoons in Canada? --you got me. I found them stacked in Toronto with a UK division, so that's why I said they were there, but I can't tell if the UK and the US were plannng to go take Alaska from Russia and the ACW interrupted it or not. Maybe it was manuevers.
elbasto: 1) is the AI always so unhistorical? 2) Are unhistorical things happening in Europe. -- 1)wouldn't that be a good thing? If you know that the game will always follow a historical path, then you won't ever be surprised by the game. 2) Yep. Look at the Russo-Turkish War.
elbasto: what would happen if you attacked both USA and CSA? --what PMLF said.
snuggs: should you be looking out for Maximilian? --given you can guess that there's a 'Maximilian' event from DK's 'Vive l'Empereur' AAR, you're still asking me to predict the alternative future. I'm trying to play as if I don't know what can happen, and letting the events create the 'story'. If Maximilian happens, Mexico will deal with it.
Weaselteats: my bet is a bid to grab some of the Pacific Northwest --might be nice to have. But would it be wise to be at war with the US and the UK?
Oldman: and now Texas joins the CSA, that johnny-come-lately. --in reality Texas did join in April, after Ft. Sumpter was attacked. Perhaps you should say that Virginia jumped the gun, as in reality she too joined after Ft. Sumpter.
vodkafire: I don't see any combat modifiers. --that's just how I'm cropping the images; they've just been cut off. I think there is a screen in the 'Texas Rebellion' episode (post #2) that shows some combat modifier icons -- bottom of the unit/battle panel.
Doc: great to snatch Hawaii. --actually Mexico didn't. Mexico 'guaranted it's independance' which is sort of a unilateral alliance (if you'll pardon the oxymoron). Mexico is now obligated to go to war to protect Hawaii should she be attacked, but Hawaii owes nothing to Mexico.
