Very nice...I can't wait. This is probably the most complex political simulation outside of games dedicated to simulating politics(of which there are very few). This really does make the game seem more interesting.

Any idea about having a Manifest Destiny of your own a little later? Looks to me like by the last couple decades of the game it would be one hell of a war. With that in mind do you still have claims on that chunk of Texas? I know you mentioned selling another claim, but didn't hear a word about Texan claims. Another thing, if that rebels to the Confederates could you DoW them to get it while "the State of the Union" is a little hazy. Didn't seem to have a problem getting land from Guatemala while it was fighting for independence from Central America.

two effects from railroad level: 'province infrastructure' basically reflects unit speed bonus through a province; 'production efficiency' affects factory and resource gathering operations (RGOs).

You build them in STATES, and each state has a half dozen or so provinces. Judging from the railroad map in Aprof's AAR, you can probably tell that there are TWO states in Missouri, because only its northern provinces have railroads. Likewise, none of Indiana's provinces have railroads, while all of llinois' and Ohio's provinces to its west and east have them... so perhaps Indiana is one state - were there two, the AI would probably have built railroads in southern Indiana already.

I don't know how the states are aligned in Mexico though, the Mexican railroad appears much more linear than the American one.

No. Railroads are built in the province, not the state.

Yeah Karl, like I said level 2 railroad in every province of the US is highly unlikely at that date.

some province iirc south (Alabama, Louisiana etc) even lacked level 1 railroads (i looked up some railroad maps of the acw time)
