Does this mean Britain will get significant numbers of immigrants from its Indian and African colonies? Granted that has happened but not within Vic's timeframe.

Or does Mexico get enhanced levels of immigration for being a New World power (or something)?

Or is it that the pie chart for 'Mexico' includes all Mexico's colonies too?

Well, if Sytass' AAR made me decide to buy the game, this AAR made me decide that I need it as soon as I can get my hands on it (I've now placed a pre-order for it )

I'd like to see as much of the different aspects of the game as possible. Could you e.g say more about how research works? Social and society thingies? Accompanied by some nice, descriptive and illustrative screenies?

Pretty please? With sugar on top?

Yeah, I can't get enough of this AAR. The last time I felt like this about a game was 3 years ago, when I stumbled on the beta AARs of Europa Universalis. Nothing gives you the "I need a new fix...and quickly" addiction as well as this kind of well written
AARs.

I have all the usual symptoms: I'm reading history books again, staring at historical maps to evaluate what would make nice additions to my empire and practising menacing looks to terrify the happless natives who might try to oppose my imperialism.

I have this gut feeling that Vicky will be the game to end all (other) games, like EU1 &2 were before. Paradox surely knows how to market their games

But IHMO that's unavoidable with a game as deep as this covering such a well documented period of history.

I just finished reading Stanley's biography, so this feature would be kinda cool. I wonder though, if he would be an explorer for USA, UK or Belgium?

Same here. Just finishing up "Man, Machines, and Freedom", which is sort of a survey of the social factors at work behind the major events 1789-1914. Excellent read, but (I think) long out of print. Rereading Keegan's WWI book, too.

uhoh, thats not good.

Patric, i thnik they're refering to the mexican exploraiton of the deeper regions of niger that is in the aar. probably one of the best parts so far. he did a little diagram and everything
i ralize that was some great writing on aprofs part, but i think alot of us assumed he was sending out an explorer, kinda like eu2
perhaps we're wrong?o

Haha! This is funny! I wonder how many other things were thus embelished?? The assasination? The colonial minister? Next thing you're gonna tell me is that the bullfight was too!

I doubt that many of us thought that it was something else than embellishment... remember Johan's words when he read the SF hype for his game in where they claimed something about exploration...

But seriosly, the colonial mininister was obviously an embellishment (since they have said elsewhere that there are no ministers in Victoria) and I'd guess the assasination was just a random event in the style of

"A prominent politician was assasinated. Your country looses prestige ... "

that's why I say that the released beta AAR's should be of the more bland straight informative AAR's as opposed to the narrative sort.

Well, I knew the route showing on the little map was an embelishment, but how did he actually explore the map? He even had three different names for the explorers. So there are no explorers at all?

Btw, I don't mind the embelishments at all. Makes the AAR much better and keeps us guesing

I was wondering how the Mexican Navy was coming along?.

Does having a Navy give you Prestege points?.

Why do you send them on "suppress Slavery missions" Prestege points?.

If you can't answer the last 2 due to NDA I understand.

The "exploration" could also be the use of some sort of "military access" option to "explore" those territories (or maybe clear some fog of war?) with normal military units.
