Replies to some questions.
JPesterfield, PMLF: how are the Nigerians affecting Mexico?: --Part of the game engine allows for 'assimilation' of immigrant POPs into the majority. The Nigerians of 1858 will be Spanish (no 'Mexican' culture) later in the century.
Seidita: you said you gained 3M POPs claiming Nigeria, what's the total? --in 1858 it's somewhere over 9M.
Gwalcmai: 12 hour work week? --doh! (Of course I meant 12 hour work day.)
Icecold: would you have done as well early on with the gold edition? --I think not. (I'd be skating too near the NDA to say any more than that.)
Hakkapeliitta: at least it wasn't Ejército de Salvación... --you don't know how many times my google search for things like 'Serbian Army' turned up with sites for the Salvation Army.
ashberry76 what's the point of elections if you can just set the ruling party? --I can't just set the ruling party, the POPs do it. And that's the elegance that you will love about this game. And the frustration that will make you play it again and again to do better. The POPs have minds of their own. I - as el presidente - have no direct control over how they vote (unless I take the vote away completely). Nor where they choose to live. I can do things to influence them to want to vote the way I want to go, but events and other actions will influence them in other ways.
and a couple of comments...
Esercito vs. Ejército: --I can't consider this discussion a nitpick. I spent a lot of time trying to find correct names for armies/divisions for the Victoria OOB for many countries of the world; I'm a respector of history, language and culture, so I wanted to get it right and it embarrasses me when I'm wrong. Given Paradox's history with patching their games for improvements, I would think that anything of this nature will be made right if it isn't right.
everyone: --If I don't happen to answer your question, it's because I can't think of a way to do it without breaking the NDA and betraying the great trust that Paradox places in their betas.
