Same issue. DH buyed from Gamersgate, patched on 1.05.1, unable to lanch it. I tried to enable direct play but it changes Nothing.
I'm on vacation until September so I cannot really help you now.
This is not a known issue, so there's no ready solution. Please provide more information. What happens when you launch the game? Can you see the main menu? Did you try running the game in compatibility mode with older Windows?
So, when i lanch the game as it is, I have a black screen, just like Always just before the intro launches. Then the game freeze and i had to close it and go back to desktop. So I Don't see the main menu. When i launch the game on compatibility mode, I Don't even have the black screen showing up. Game launch, it shows itself as running in my task manager but not responsive. So i have to force-close it.
Please try disabling playing the intro from the launcher.
What kind of graphic card do you have?
Starting with or wothout the intro changes Nothing.
HOWEREVER : i managed to start the game yesterday evening by updating my graphic card's drivers, but it was a one shot : today i can't start the game anymore.

That's the one I have IIRC and I'm on Win10 too so the issue must be something else.
Can you please check again that the drivers of the graphic card are updated and that Direct Play is enabled as Legacy Component? Keep the intro deactivated and try again with Compatibility mode for Windows XP. I'm sorry, I know it's not good advice, just the same, but I'm not sure what the problem could be.
Ifound the solution : i just had to execute the program in 640*480 res. Thank your for helping!
That's weird, since that should be below the minimum supported resolution for DH but... well, I'm glad it finally worked. Still, I cannot find an explanation.
