DH 1.01.1 (XMMZ) Multi-Player via GameRanger

Hey guys,

my friend bought his copy off Steam, I did it off GamersGate.
We both have the same version and checksum (1.01.1 (XMMZ)).

Now we tried to play DH MP over GameRanger, like we always did with AOD.

First thing: We disabled our firewalls and antivirs. I have my ports open for GameRanger and AOD/HOI2/DH. (They're all the same.)

I act as host, my friend isn't able to open the ports, because he has no access to his router, but as I mentioned it isn't a problem, because it worked well with AOD.

So, opened a room in GameRanger, he joined. I clicked on start, waited a bit, the game starts. Upper right: 1.01.1 (XMMZ), Darkest Hour Full.
So far so good, room opened.
Then his game starts, it loads and then he's in the main menu, but GameRanger doesn't join him into my lobby as it is supposed to do. He looked at the upper right corner: same as mine.

Now the 1. time we tried it vice versa: He opened a room in GameRanger, I joined. He started. Game loads and again in the main menu without GameRanger making him hosting a lobby. Just standing in the main menu. (Not frozen!)
I, ofcourse, can't join, so the loading bar of GameRanger is still going on; "Waiting for host...".

Is there any confirmed error/problem? AOD works fine. (He and me have AOD on Steam with 1.07, this time he has DH from Steam and I from GamersGate, but already read, that it doesn't matter as long as we have the same version and checksum.)

this is just a wild idea. but as bouth of you start DH First from the laucher on DH full, so it is the last game played on that and then quit start gameranger, rooms etc.

i had this same problem with aod way back but dont rember how we got it to work

I think it is an issue with steam and steam's directory. Me and my friend had steam copies of the game and we were trying to set up a game ranger game, now the host can boot up but nobody else. We had a friendly player drop by and he tried to host, me and my friend just got stuck on "waiting for host". The player said the game should boot up automatically after a short amount of time. He was on the gamersgate copy.

Hm, weird, because AOD just works fine with GameRanger and Steam. I hope a dev. or someone who had this problem and solved it posts here.

I think the issue with DH is that in the steam directory it's game folder is called "Darkest Hour a hoi iii game". Maybe the creators can change it to just " Darkest Hour"?
