There was some action going on in the Middle-East as well. I, as the Emir of Oman, had a pretty decent run, continuing my expansion down the coast and across the strait to begin conquering parts of Africa. After some expansion, I was also able to use the new Form Kingdom decision to make myself the Sultan of Oman. My ongoing success was however, stopped by the fact that my ruler was skilled enough to get himself killed in battle... Thus giving the throne to a child of one year old. Who is now five. I've also been quite successful in spreading the true Ibadi faith to most of my conquered counties.
The glory of my expansion to date.
And the heretical Caliph of the Abbasids, remains in power for the time being. There were some attempts of revolts trying to tear the blob apart. But alas, that was not meant to be, as the Abbasid ruler was able to beat them down, but only after having to put quite some effort into the revolt. It makes me wonder if it's just a matter of time before the Abbasid will start to crumble?
Meanwhile, we have a growing neighbor with the Buddhist rulers of Afganistan. While the Andalusian rulers of Umayyad, somehow, was able to get some lands just north of the Abbasids. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. The Zunbils are still Zun-worshiping pagans. We'll see how long that last, but I suspect they will be safe for as long as the Abbasids will remain decently unstable, and as long as the rulers of India doesn't go so far west.

Is Divine trying to retake Italy or am I mistaken? It seemed to me that he joined the crusade as well, was it only to get this lovely Crusader trait? Is he aiming to fight for independence and finally destroy Francia? Or is the threat of Iberian muslims still too great?

I actually managed to grab the Italy title once more just at the end of the last round. Now I'm just settling my position, trying to sync my titles succession laws (Agnatic-cognatic gavelkind for Aquitaine, Agnatic primogeniture for Italy) but it's a bit problematic since I'm bound to Francian law on the Aquitaine title. Apart from that I'm going to help letterZ to stabilize Bavaria after inheritance and ally up. On opportunity I aim to integrate Brittany to Aquitaine and set up a relative on the throne of Middle Francia.
About the Iberian problem: Well the Umayyads are crazy strong right now and I can't really shy away from the Francia title until there has been a successful crusade for Andalusia and they have been messed with a bit. As of now I can muster a fourth of their forces.
Think they are still pretty strong and low decadence? This game was started in 2.2 so they've been keeping the stability from that version. Abbasid are collapsing however.
