I fixed the ai files. As for the event text i am not sure how to tackle that. It seems that there have been some events to use the lines 3134-3135 and 3150-3152, but those appear to be no longer in existence.

Beta11.
Could someone try to play as the Soviets from 1936 to ca 1942/3. Im interested to hear results from a player with that nation. Just follow the "normal" strategy with infatry and land-tecs.
Also can someone try to invaded the UK with Germany before your at war with USSR and USA please? often in 1940/41.

I wonder whether it makes sense to transfer some of the org increasements in the socviet doctrine tree to earlier techs. Right now total max Org of regular units before any modificators such as the Purge penalties is as follows:

Code:
1937 Large Front Doctrine: 45
1940 Deep Operations Doctrine: 45
1941 Pocket Defense Doctrine: 50
1941 Defense in Depth Doctrine: 60
1941 Large Formation SOP Doctrine: 70

As the last 3 techs take usually more than one year to research and require the prior tech in order to only start the research it takes till 1943 to get the 70 Org. At the beginning of barbarossa soviet union is lucky to have 50 Org minus the purge penalties. I propose to antedate 5 Org each into 1937 and 1940:

Code:
1937 Large Front Doctrine: 50
1940 Deep Operations Doctrine: 55
1941 Pocket Defense Doctrine: 60
1941 Defense in Depth Doctrine: 65
1941 Large Formation SOP Doctrine: 70

In order to counter those effects the GPW events, that reduce the purge penalties, could be adapted so that the net effect for early barbarossa would be very small.

After some further radical changes to the AI of the USA all majors seem to have appropriate building queues in mid 1942. At march the 4th the USA have 627 effective ic followed by germany with 607 effective ic. The soviet union is reduced to 202 effective ic after bitter peace and has 171 land divisions.

At march the 4th in 1944 it is 646 effective ic vs. 582 effective ic in favour of the USA. But is seems that they are losing the air war over europe. Two years ago the USA had both the largest fleet and the largest airforce with more than 100 air divisions. Now they are down to 66, less than the now 85 german ones. Radar is advancing and so allied losses are rising.

In the pacific things are similar. The japanese navy has been decreased in size much less than those of its enemies USA and UK. The german fleet however has be drowned by the royal fleet and so have been some of the divisions of some failed attempts of a sealion.

As I playe along the south-africa as marked liberal got a FA hos, but when I loaded up the game it was a different hos with ML ideolgy.

I am probably being quite 'radical' in my proposal but here goes.

Edit: Moved all this to the main forum to generate more discussion and to not go too of topic on this thread.

I somewhat agree, but some leaders/ministers was just horribel. I would like to see an end to this minister bug first then we later one can look at you ideas. I dont think much more radical cahnges is good for the moment.

I really like this proposal. Currently Germany is virtually unstoppable between 1938-1941, this small edit but significant boost to the USSR will help combat that - so long as refusing the purge comes at a very high price, perhaps even 60% dissent to off-set this boost.

I've moved your comment, and my response to the main thread. Regarding the minister bug, yes that also needs looking into I agree with you there.

Using the beta 11, I did a handsoff run as Cuba until 30 August 1939.

My comments are:

Germany:
* Should not border any units on the border with Yugoslavia unless it is human controlled. It should garrison all of its coastal provinces until Copenhagen is taken, especially if the UK or France is human controlled.
* Needs to stockpile more rares, 13.5k is definitely not enough.

Poland:
* Need not garrison its border with Hungary or Romania, unless they are human controlled. If possible, it should utilise more of its manpower pre-Aug 39, it has another 200 to spare.

France:
* Should place all of its troops in Metropolitan France, it also has another 600 manpower to spare that IMO should've been used already
* Should not build infra in the Maginot unless you consider it to be an extension of Germany

Romania:
* Should not build infra in Bessarabia & Constanta unless you consider the Romania AI to be an extension of the USSR & Bulgaria (same for many minor countries effectively being an extension of Germany or Japan)

Japan:
* Has 82k oil, not sure it needs so much so early on

USA:
* has 468k energy, 304k oil, 234k metal and 53k rares, it should really trade much much more

Germany: Should not border any units on the border with Yugoslavia unless it is human controlled.

I am not sure if i can agree on this.

It should garrison all of its coastal provinces until Copenhagen is taken, especially if the UK or France is human controlled.

So humans would dare to take their fleet through the kattegat and risk losing it enclosed in the baltic sea?

Needs to stockpile more rares, 13.5k is definitely not enough.

True. In my current test game it is 30k, so there is some variance.

Poland: Need not garrison its border with Hungary or Romania, unless they are human controlled.

Hungary and romania might join germany, so if Poland survives long enough it might be caught off guard.

If possible, it should utilise more of its manpower pre-Aug 39, it has another 200 to spare.

That is about 40% of the mobilized manpower. I suppose 150 would be more appropriate.

France: Should place all of its troops in Metropolitan France

That it should do by 1940.

it also has another 600 manpower to spare that IMO should've been used already

Here it is 513 manpower which is 57% of the mobilized manpower. Those are probably too high reserves, but the relevant figures are mid 1940, not late 1939. A limited mobilization then is intentional.

Japan: Has 82k oil, not sure it needs so much so early on

Here it is only 69.7k. A steady build up of reserves is intentional.

USA: has 468k energy, 304k oil, 234k metal and 53k rares, it should really trade much much more

Here are similar levels. There trades initiated after the start of the game in 1936 are either from american countries or Japan. Japan has no alternative to trade oversea, the rest of the world seems eager to avoid this.

I completed the intended changes for 1.09. Set 34 will be published as a fully integrated patch that i call Release Candidate 1. The term should reflect that i consider 1.09 to no longer be a work in progress, but to be done until proven otherwise. There is the one exception of the translation file. That one will be different in the final patch. Also there is the chance that further (small) changes to the game itself are needed, but i hope to avoid those. 1.08 is 34 months old by now, it is time to replace it as the official patch.

There are some nations that can be released but have no manpower in their national provinces. I therefore gave them some offmap manpower. It is not very surprising, that those amounts tend to be very small as those are small nations. The one exception is Indonesia that at the time had a population similar to france. I gave INO 0.1 manpower a day. Developed nations tend to extract 5 time more manpower compared to their population.

Great minds think alike! Jarski's mod has given many of those nations off-map manpower too!

On map manpower would be even better, but yes I can imagine there might be some issues with game balance.

Another small thing - for the USA gearing events, Soviet belligerence requirements should either be increased or removed, or added in with other requirements (I.e. USSR controlling Warsaw or Stockholm or Ankara). Currently the USSR can invade Finland, Baltic, Persia and Afghanistan and trigger all 3 gearings.

For game balance, it would also be good to see the event giving Ukraine 15IC to be slept if the USSR movement of industry event never occurred for Ukraine (I.e. The removal of the IC in Kiev, Vinnitsa etc).

Can you also correct the techtree to properly show the line from basic light tank to basic medium tank, since it no longer requires improved light tank?
Same for 1938 mot to 1941 mec

RC1 uses the correct picture with 1937 semimot-CAV to 1940 mech.

Can you also correct the techtree to properly show the line from basic light tank to basic medium tank, since it no longer requires improved light tank?

Some solution will be found there.

And also, the sea mines and torpedoes for submarines please D:

Not in 1.09.

Also, 3 of the new Albanian Heads of Intelligence has got Elastic Defence Doctrine trait, which is not a standard trait for that minister position.

True. :(
I will ask Mrdie about that. Probably it is meant to be Chief of Army.
