Maybe I missed it, but will we see a graphical representation of the cone or radius on the map as we set it? In the screenshot it looks like a the mission menu takes up a good chunk of the available space.
I know its Alpha, but I thought I'd be annoying and point out Continuous.
It means it doesn't stop
i concur with this post... and would just like to add that i'm glad Paradox has a very wise policy/theme for HoI3 - detail if you want it, smooth options if you want to concentrate on something else. The best from HOI1 and HOI2, adding new stuff to boot. Kickass!
Thanks for the update!![]()
Thank you for improving air combat.
May I ask:
What about defensive fighter warfare? Does it mean air units really patrolling the destinated area for the designed time without stop at 100% effectivity?
IRL, there were small combat air patrols, wearing units out, while the majority of forces were grounded (on standby mission).
By the way: Same with naval forces. Esp. heavy units were not used for infinite defensive patrols without strong evidince of upcoming enemy operations.
The new options hint to even more micro management.
What is really missing for defensive air & naval (and even land) missions is an interception order.
This one wouldn't be triggered by silly "theoretical" time span, but simply by the presence of enemy forces. This one wouldn't mean, the interception units are patrolling 24/7 sensless burning fuel and wearing down materiel and soldiers. Those defensive reaction forces are sitting in their bases on standby. They could act under pre- determined Rules of engagements, defining aggressivness, triggers for enemy size and so on.
This would reduce micro management.
It would reduce the visual action on the map.
It would be historical.

Check out the "Supplied from Kassel" bit. I wonder if that means that there is actually a supply depot in Kassel? That would be quite different from what we know about the supply system so far (supply streams directed from capital and overseas depots only).

I think I spotted a feature related to the organization of air units!
Check out the little green button on the leftmost window - I think that's an "attach" button? Presumably for attaching your air commands to theater-level commands and such...
The airbase they are at is Kassel. Ground units carry a certain amount of supplies with them, but air units can't take them in the air, so they are at the airbase?
Luftflotte IV is at Kassel but the Orders screen has Paderborn at the top. Why?
The button with the green arrow? I think that would open up a unit hierarchy screen. This same button appeared on the ground unit interface. But the Corps also had a button next to it with a "XXXX+" to add the Corps that was selected to an Army. This unit has none, but that may be because Luftflotte is the highest level.
The game already reports the amounts of supplies carried by the unit, and you don't gain much by having the air units "leave" their supplies behind, since they are always associated with an airbase anyway.
Moreover, I don't see why the player would ever need to know (on the unit interface, as opposed to the supply map) the exact province where the supplies come from, as opposed to the depot from which they are being pushed.
huh? You better change your attitude 200 degrees mister! lol. No there is certainly no 400 degree system in the US, or anywhere for that matter. Maybe NATO "mils" is what he is referring to? But that is based on a 6400 count...I don't know.
Edit: Oh he replied, nevermind.
Degrees instead of the radian would probably be simpler to understand.
I thought we were just point-and-clicking or shift-clicking the radius.Isn't the circle option a bit superfluous? If I set the cone to width=3.1415 and angle=anything, won't I get the same result?
